Scientists at the University of Oxford are creating OvarianVax, a vaccine that teaches the immune system to recognise and attack the earliest stages of ovarian cancer. www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=7385cf53a1de484db9313a818493fb741e3369d233736c45dde9ee4e8d85f790JmltdHM9MTcyODE3MjgwMA&ptn=3&ver=2&hsh=4&fclid=19bb2552-da1d-666b-1042-31b8dbdf67bc&psq=uk+cancer+treatment+news&u=a1aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cubXNuLmNvbS9lbi1nYi9oZWFsdGgvb3RoZXIvd29ybGQtZmlyc3Qtb3Zhcmlhbi1jYW5jZXItdmFjY2luZS10cmlhbHMtbGF1bmNoZWQtaW4tYmlkLXRvLXdpcGUtb3V0LWRpc2Vhc2UvYXItQUExckZ0VXc_b2NpZD1CaW5nTmV3c1NlcnA&ntb=1 The hope is that the jab could be given to women preventatively on the NHS with the aim of eliminating the disease, which kills around 4,100 women in the UK each year. Cancer charities have hailed the research as having the potential to save thousands of lives, and to save women with a BRCA gene mutation from having to have their ovaries removed. The news comes after announcements earlier this year that scientists at the University of Oxford had secured funding to develop a vaccine that could prevent lung cancer. Experts have likened the potential impact of OvarianVax to that of the HPV vaccine, which is on its way to eliminating cervical cancer. Professor Ahmed Ahmed, director of the Ovarian Cancer Cell Laboratory at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine at the University of Oxford, said he hoped patients in clinical trials could benefit within four to five years, but added that it would take “many years” for the vaccine to come into general use. Prof Ahmed said that “while the full-blown timeline” for a vaccine being approved “might be many years away”, the “impact that it would have, if it’s successful, would hopefully be much sooner”. The problem is that for every Professor Ahmed we also admit a hundred Mohamed Lidows. The cost/benefit ratio of these transactions is highly asymmetrical.

Is wifebeating culture equal to western culture?
Are those pushing for Sharia law equal to western culture?
Are those who want to kill Salman Rushdie welcome?

His culture has nothing do with it . He has studied and worked in the US and the UK after Egypt. In fact it would be fair to say that Western culture facilitated his research and his present status .

It would be handy if we could get some numbers. I would be interested, for instance, in how many Somalian Nobel prize winners entered the UK last year, so we can get some idea what the that balance is.

That is an assumption too far, we know not who did not receive funding so that Mr Ahmed could pursue his speciality. It may be support for Mr Ahmed may have cost millions of lives as research in other directions suffered. We do not know what if, you see an outcome and laud that outcome, fair enough, but all the whys and wherefores are unknown. It could be a butterfly like effect.

Only a loon from the left would laugh at that number of girls being abused and raped TTL. laughing at your trolling post you been proven wrong elsewhere .As of last census there were slightly over 14 Million kids in the UK. The NSPCC estimates that up to 5% of those have been sexually abused at some point (not raped, sexually abused - there is a legal difference). That gives a UK Total of 703,767 children sexually abused - a genuinely horrific number; but one significantly lower than the BS CBN News figure of 1 million. Every bit of analysis shows that in the UK the vast majority of Child Sex Offenders are WHITE - which is what would be expected for a population that is roughly 80% white (I am not making any claim about how proportionately any demographic is represented in those figures).
