Indeed Magra. There are down sides to infinity, like everything. Everything you do is pointless, its like a mouse on a wheel, frantically running getting nowhere. The Baron is on a quest to learn but doesnt realise he already knows all there is to know, as we all do. Whatever sphere of existence we are in, there are bigger spheres, stretching into infinity.
Near death experiencers and pre birth memories report drinking from a river of forgetfullness, make of that what you will. Being born into this world with eternal knowledge cant happen, have no greater experience than this, and an understanding of an eventual death, gives meaning to everything.
Although it doesnt. Having said that, memory is implanted in us, and expresses itself through our genes which you change and develop through each lifetime.
Forgetfullness is useful. Just think of all the problems in the world and our struggles to solve them, and how hard it is. And the reason for it seems to be this, it is passing time, time that doesnt exist, when faced with eternity.
Imagine the universe, god, whatever existing, and asking the question" what next". This is what God has come up with. It might be fair to call life a Hollywood film, its purpose to pass an evening, and be entertained, from a human perspective.
Such entertainment would then be multiplied up......

Yes I did among other things. I just don't think it is appropriate for a forum like this. This is like an educational section. The rest of the forum is the same old same old endless arguments. I get bored with it so I'm leaning quantum field theory. You may find it interesting.. But do many here understand it? I find Nyquist diagrams quite useful but how many here can use them? That's what I am getting at.

On social media you end up with the people who like the sort of stuff you discuss. It's like they find you. It is also better to talk about something you genuinely find interesting because your enthusiasm will rub off onto others. Everyone has to start somewhere I guess. When I was younger and faced with things I did not understand it just gave me more of a drive to figure it out. The process of figuring things out is like a mental gym and if you can figure complicated stuff out you find that comes in handy for solving life's problems. Besides how our economy will look is that it will be the countries who can do this kind of maths and science who will be the first world economies. There is not a better time than now for young Brits to decide they are going to meet the challenge. They have been short-changed by dumb education and dumb populist science. This is the real thing, not the plastic toolset for children to play with.

I tend to use Youtube a lot and under each video is a discussion. It can range from imbecile to expert level depending on the video. The issue I have is I rarely meet Brits at the expert end of things. Mind you there are one or two, e.g. there is a good quantum computing research group at Oxford. I'd say the main use for quantum mechanics in the present is to build the next generation of chips because we are reaching the limit with silicon due to quantum tunnelling.

OK. Care to show real specific examples where some have done so? Have you done Lagrangian mechanics?

OK. Care to show real specific examples where some have done so? Have you done Lagrangian mechanics? Yes, Lagrangian functions. But it isn't me you need to convince So show real specific examples where some others have done so?

Have you done Lagrangian mechanics? Yes, Lagrangian functions. But it isn't me you need to convince So show real specific examples where some others have done so? I can think of a couple from the old forum. One mentioned he had a maths degree and the other was supposedly an engineer telling me I had it all wrong on some maths matter so presumably he would understand this series of lectures. To be honest I have little understanding of the mathematical skills of forum members. Actually just the other day I was on some political thread on Youtube and it was from videos produced by a professor of theatre, so perhaps many arty types on it, except one chap who got what I was saying who happened to be a retired engineer. You really do not know unless you bring these topics up. This is a kind of antidote to mediocrity. I would not have put it up if I were not impressed with the talents of the lecturer.
Anyway, if you have done Lagrangian mechanics it should not be too much of a step to add in the correction for the Lorentz transform. The other topic that comes into creating this theory of everything except gravity is group theory. This leads on to the idea of the SU(2) and SU(3) groups which are the fundamental particles. Also another trick once you have the Lagrangian is you can derive the conservation laws (Noether's theorem).

I think you should leave this thread alone if that is the sum total of you intellectual contribution. What a waste of time conversing with you. Go and get grumpy somewhere else.
