Quite possibly but the fact remains, every year far more deaths in this country are attributed to people being too cold, not too warm. Yet judging by this governments policies you could be forgiven for thinking it was the other way around, don't you agree?.. Well we certainty don't have the climate for many deaths by sun stroke. But sad to say to many people fiddle the cold weather payments i post about them living in hotter climates receiving the payment and im sure you heard of OAP going holidays for winter period and be truthful do you really need it. Unfortunately you have to break eggs to make a omelette. Yup . Punishing the poorer pensioners because there are wealthy ones . The doofuses politics of envy . |

Why when it comes to 'benefit fiddling', which receiving the winter fuel payment is not the left are up in arms, yet the whole clans living on benefits claiming all sorts of things are only claiming what they are entitled to. If you break rotten eggs you get a pretty minging omelette. So getting winter payments while living abroad isn't fraudulent in your book? |

Whilst living abroad may be, I know not, but not whilst going to warmer climes for the winter. There was time when a lot of pensioners shut up house in November and went off to Spain for 4 months as it was actually cheaper to do that. Good rates on long term hotel residency for the off peak season with food and cooking all/part found. The winter fuel allowance is to keep pensioners warm, how they do that is surely up to them and their ingenuity. |

I don't know how old you are, but older people are far more susceptible to hypothermia that younger people. When in opposition Labour produced figures that said 4000 pensioners would die every year if the nasty Tories scrapped the winter fuel payment. Once in power the first thing Labour do is scrap the winter fuel payment. The only conclusion is, Labour want to kill old age pensioners. |

What is it 225 a week for pensioners on state pension And a freebe 300 thats 3,300 a month and you try and tell me they cant afford heating. The real problem is badly insulated homes. AND damp condition. Nothing to do with not able to afford it. |

The heating allowance is once a year . If a pensioner is getting £900 per month , they are hardly going to be able to afford the cost of insulation and damp proofing . |
