That's an American concept, it doesn't apply in France. He can make life very awkward for anyone he doesn't care for who aspires to form a new government and, constitutionally, the president still has very significant powers in areas such as foreign policy, defence and the EU.
This will not be the first time this particular scenario has arisen.

While at the same time relying on New Labour to bring you a Christmas present. I get the feeling the French aren't up for it. |

One of two possible scenarios ,,,
The French see through the antics of the hard left, RN get their absolute majority and FREXIT will show the CINO's on our dole queue how BREXIT should have been done..
The French follow like sheep, RN is castrated by an unholy alliance that makes Stalin look benevolent, France will descend into chaos and there will probably be hand to hand fighting in the streets come August.
I'll let you know assuming the usual suspects don't bomb the tunnel and ferry terminals to make life a pain for Les rosbifs as they always do but this time with flair and panache
