Far-right parties are on the rise in much of Europe, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni senses a big moment.
“We are on the eve of a decisive election,” the Brothers of Italy leader tells a packed hall in Madrid by video link. Marine Le Pen of France’s National Rally is in the front row, alongside Santiago Abascal, who heads Spain’s Vox party. “We are the engine of our continent’s renaissance,” the Italian prime minister declares, before rousing her audience to a standing ovation.
The far right has won elections in Italy and the Netherlands, leads the polls in France, Austria and Belgium and has a stake in the governments of Finland and Slovakia.
Now they could secure more than three in every 10 votes when the EU’s 27 states vote in European elections from 6-9 June, and become a powerful force in the European Parliament.
Infighting is threatening to take the gloss off the far-right surge - because of a series of scandals surrounding Germany’s AfD.
That is why the AfD’s allies in the EU have thrown the German party out of their far-right Identity and Democracy (ID) group in the European Parliament.
They want nothing to do with a party whose top candidate, Maximilian Krah, has revealed embarrassing views about Adolf Hitler’s Waffen-SS and whose number two faces accusations of taking money from Vladimir Putin’s Russia - allegations he denies.
That kind of association is the last thing Marine Le Pen needs. She has fought for years to detoxify her party from the extreme views of her father, who founded National Rally’s predecessor and was convicted of trivialising the Holocaust.
The above from the BBC.

I guess this takes us back to the endless struggle to define, 'far right'. We seemed to have learned little to nothing from the Twentieth Century. Far 'anything' leads to authoritarianism and then totalitarianism, whether it's left or right. No country in Europe has a homogenous, hive-minded population and so any government either has to apply Bismark and work with 'the art of the possible', or look for ways to impose its ideology on an entire population, swathes of which do not support it.

I only see lefties marching with Hamas and destroying our heritage with their Woke mobs in the UK. The BBC are above the law, and everyone who isn't conforming with any of this are labelled far-right. The thing is, I can't even find a far-right party in the UK to make comparisons. Reform are apparently right of centre playing conservative and everything else is heading toward the far-left.

Without Germany the EU entity is threatened so there, the fight against the Right is of the highest importance.

Some cannot see that more and more people across the EU are not happy that their customs , way of life and language is being undermined. As for the Woke crowd they are attacking our Freedom of Expression and Speech everyday, can't say this can't say that it may offend some people, what next ban Hair Shampoo as it offends people who are bald ?

Half a billion people cannot be referred to in general, especially through the Lens of one nation's press.

The EU doesn't work and cannot work without full fiscal, economic and political union. So, either achieve that, or repatriate powers back to national governments, scrap free movement, scrap Schengen and abolish the customs union.

The EU are very aware that unpopular policies imposed by the all powerful and unelected commission, namely forced mass immigration that electorates may not question, pose a real threat to the EU as we know it today. Merkel may have gone, but unfortunately her legacy lives on, which is why the EU are quietly backtracking on previous migration policy. They can see the writing on the wall and are desperate to stop the rise of the centre right. Too little too late? Hopefully.

Basically anything that does not support neo-liberal or globalist forces becomes Far Right.

It's hardly surprising that support for the far-right is on the rise across europe - who else is going to protect people?.

Half a billion people cannot be referred to in general, especially through the Lens of one nation's press. But that is the way when the EU order a directive. It's taken a very long time for you to realise this.

Then how do you explain the results of the EU elections where the EPP is still the largest party by some 50 seats? Doesnt look like the EU is bending too far to the right. Only in some press. Why not Google the real existential results instead of dribbling?

Why not Google the real existential results instead of dribbling? I can explain that by saying the right in the EU are growing. Your home country has Macron flying by the seat of his pants Kim. All is not well on the continent. To try and imply otherwise means you are only fooling yourself. The millenials are even getting fed up with the orthodoxy you subscribe to.
