Before the old man died he wanted to visit some of the places he was sent in WW2 he visited a cafe in Normandy where he was billeted, the same people's grandchildren still ran it, they fetched their parents and grandparents who still remembered him, they couldn't do enough for him. Just one of the better stories the French youth would have no recollection or any reason to give a rat's arse. Indeed they are not all bad , just the officialdom . I visited my Great Uncles grave in rural France a couple of years back . A little Village called Pernois .It was just a field hospital and they buried the lads basically outside the tent . There are hundreds of such war graves around the Somme . Anyway we found the place in the middle of nowhere and as we left by a small gate a small group of locals had gathered and shook our hands as we left (as if we had anything to do with it ) . Quite a special moment though ,the cheese eating surrender monkey's have some manners at least .

Fury as French officials 'remove' Britain's Union Jack from display of hundreds of flags to mark D-Day in Normandy town......
Britons have reacted with fury after the Union Jack appeared to have been removed by French officials celebrating the anniversary of D-Day in a French town in Normandy.
Pictures from previous years show flag bunting depicting all the nations involved in the Allied resistance to the Nazis adorning the streets of the charming town of Carentan.
But images from this year show new bunting that appears to showcase the flags of all EU member states, the EU flag itself, as well as Canada and the US - but no British flag.
I guess the story drags attention away from failings — such as polluted lakes, rivers and water supplies — in the UK today, and helps move commentators away from such topics as UK homeless figures being the highest in the developed world, cost of food and energy, etc, etc, etc… www.ft.com/content/24117a03-37c2-424a-97ed-6a5292f9e92eThen as per usual you guess wrong we have threads all about those topics. But of course the usual lefty trolls treat many of them as a no go zone

As a result of their upset over Brexit they have removed the Union Jack from display for the June 6th Anniversary... Carole Zarb, 54, of the town’s tourism board, said: “The town hall is behind this.
“We think it is because of Brexit. We are not behind their decision.”
Meanwhile, somewhere in England.... The Yorkshire Air Museum has marked the 80th anniversary of two French bomber squadrons who were stationed at RAF Elvington for almost two years in 1944.
During World War Two, the museum site, near York, was an RAF base staffed entirely by foreign personnel.
The two French squadrons, No 346 (Guyenne) and No 347 (Tunisie), played a major part in the bombing offensive against Germany.
On Thursday, the French flag was raised at the former airbase to honour the 2,500 French aircrew who had been stationed there.
This demonstrates how the British have class on the one hand, and on the other shows how French authorities are petty and ungrateful. Thank God I was born British.

Personally, I see it as no more than a bit of fun.
My observation was about the motives of the current Tory client journalism of the Mail in featuring this story — and also frequently exhibited by the Telegraph...

And now, releases of untreated sewage and water pollution appears to be something the UK is expected to live with...

Any “flushing down the shitter” is being done by those currently in government. The frightening scenario for me is the possibility of the current crew being returned and then ousting the only one whose got real-world financial experience for a coven leader of incompetent populists. Of course, there’s always the possibility of Johnson and/or Truss returning and drafting in Farage. Despite your juvenile doctoring of names, I’m all for a Starmer-led administration, now it’s got rid of the wild Left, Marxist terrorist-supporting faction. I’m hoping the next election brings a Attlee/Wilson/Callaghan approach to mending Broken Britain over the next decade while a true One Nation Tory party reforms…

As regards small boat crossings they intend to do what the Tories are doing only better and more efficiently and in reality the crossings will increase the deportations will decrease, the whole issue will become more expensive and we will have an amnesty to clear the backlog, then we start again. The economy will not dramatically change, the tax burden may increase slightly and the process of flushing everything away will continue. Woke will become the new watchword and some pretty authoritarian laws will be passed in the name of DIE.

You seem to be ignoring the fact that your bogeymen are not in a government with a substational majority. But I agree your inference, the current internally squabbling government is dangerously damaging the country.
