A former barber used money from his Covid relief grant to fund Islamic State fighters in Syria, a court has heard. Tarek Namouz had received thousands of pounds from Labour run Hammersmith and Fulham Council during the pandemic. Instead of using the payment to support his struggling business, the 43-year-old wanted to buy a building for ‘storing weapons’ and occupy it with ‘IS fighters’. Kingston Crown Court was told that he sent as much as £25,000 to organise terror attacks against ‘non-believers’ in the war-torn country. Texts showed he was ‘committed to Islamic extremist culture’ and to the cause of terrorism and killing non-believers’. metro.co.uk/2022/11/24/london-barber-sent-25000-to-is-fighters-in-syria-after-getting-covid-grant-17823187/I wonder if he was a poor downtrodden refugee from the war torn state of France, and more to the point, I wonder how many of his buddies are in this country.

Don't shout about it though, you'll be accused of being racist.

Seems an innovative sort of chap. He's just one of many who defrauded the Rishi furlough money because a conservative estimate shows 4.5 BILLION got siphoned away, whereas the true figure of losses is likely to be 8 Billion.

What we should do is buy a totally uninhabited island in the middle of the Pacific thousands of miles away from land and secretly send them all there. There would be no way of communicating with anyone and they would have to live off coconuts.

Jail him for a couple of years then ship him back to syria I can think of far more appropriate punishments. This person is a traitor. We used to hang traitors. Whole life in prison. And tell every thug in the prison, that this character is in for noncing.

Our town has had a couple of Arabic barbers for some years. There was once a "traditional" barber who had the monopoly : 3 chairs, telly with Sky Sports, pile of car magazines, 40 year old photos on the wall, and a limited number of cuts.
Then the Turkish barber opened.. Nice surroundings, better cuts, all the extras (razor around the edges, singeing, eyebrows, rose water, etc) - and costing a pound LESS than the previous haircutter .
Anyone else, faced with such competition, would up their game. Not so for R**** - he and his team went on social media with an openly racist campaign aimed at the Turkish guys - darkly hinting (with no evidence offered, of course) at everything from terrorism to child abuse. Our town is a very nice place (as a community, we're currently providing homes for Syrian and Afghan refugees, after all), and such petty unpleasantness didn't go unnoticed.
We now have a Turkish barber, a Kurdish barber, a couple of hipster barbers (I can't vouch for their service - I'm sure they're fine, but they're pricey - and the "original" (who'd been on the same spot since the 1950s) shut his doors a couple of years ago.
