Shame they captured him alive. If they'd shot him it would have saved a fortune in court and prison costs. I also think he should have been shot the moment he refused to drop the sword, instead of shouting out loudly in a loutish way to residents to lock the doors. We all know if he been a Certain colour he been Shot Dead Why wasn't Arned police present ?

Not terror related they say, whatever somethings badly wrong linkThis guy should have been shot. We must be the only country in the world where a maniac can charge around the streets chasing unarmed police with a sword. The sad fact is, if an an armed police officer had shot him that young boy would be alive. It's time we woke up and realised that the days of Dixon of Dock Green are long gone.

Having watched the video he is tasered twice by an Officer off screen , and a another woman officer walks straight at him and tasers him which puts him down, within a few seconds armed Police arrive, given that the Met does not have enough armed officers it appears by luck they were not far away,
No need to even draw their firearms he was all already incapacitated and disarmed, as for shouting at residents to get back indoors, quite right last thing Police want is more targets for him,

If the police routinely carried sidearms for personal protection, as they should imo, that boy would be alive.

I don't care what colour someone is, if they're trying to kill innocent people with a sword, I'd take aim and shoot.

Even if all our Police were armed which may happen one day it took Police 20 minutes to get to the scene , and that young lad had been severely injured and others had already been injured.

Well to all those who slag off the met over the Palestine marches and say they need disbanding please bear in mind they are all that stands between us and some nutter,an inspector was injured and Wpc nearly lost a hand in this episode. They aren’t perfect but are human like the rest of us though they put themselves in harms way when required link

I'm with you on our police being armed but not sure many of them would want to be given the first thing that happens if they discharge the weapon is see themselves treated as criminals . But something needs to be done , we have imported violent criminals from around the world along with immigrants who see our law and order as a pushover .The stakes are high and the baddest gang in town needs to be the police , to be that they need arming

The UK needs a 'second amendment'. It would not be in the same form as the us law, but would allow any non convicted UK citizen above the age of 25 to posses and carry a firearm. The penalty for a carrying a non licensed firearm should be raised to the death penalty.

It's easy to be blase about the level of violent crime on the streets when you are chauffeured everywhere in an armoured Range Rover..

I think there will be a lot of deaths, but in the long term it will be for the better.
