Finally we agree on something. I thought you agreed with me on the other thread . It just took a while for you to admit it. I agreed with you on one aspect of a different conversation. I do not wholly agree with you on that topic. However, we seem to be wholly agreed on this one.

Didn't the same thing occur with one of abacuses offspring or was that drug enduced? I think that was drug induced I think Bentley - and maybe others - have the entirely wrong end of the stick here. I’ve been at the epicentre of some earth moving drinking sessions where the participants are perfect gentlemen, and other occasions where the bastards are mean as shit and fighting after a mere mouthful of sasparilla. Whats that term in criminal justice ‘mens rea’ i think. It speaks to not so much the action, as the intent before the action. Alcohol is quite wrongly blamed for anti social behaviour. The fact is the mindset of being an anti social piece of shit is there from the off, and it is the combination of being allowed to think you can get away with it, and the actuality of getting away with it, that causes it. I agree John...Funny how these lefty snowflakes are offended by a glass of wine whilst defending a full blown pissup it it is a lefty holding the glass or can...Bottoms up mate I had a few with the boys tonight and look forward to the same tommorrow.

violence around pubs and clubs News Somerset Live Man seriously injured in late night attack at pub beer garden Daniel Clark Sun, 21 April 2024 at 12:55 pm BST 1-min read Police are appealing for information after a serious assault at a pub just over the Somerset border in Wiltshire. The incident happened at the King’s Arms in Trowbridge just before midnight. A man in his 40s was assaulted in the pub garden, suffering serious facial injuries, Wiltshire Police said. A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in custody for questioning Some insider information on Trowbridge. A woman I know used to live there. The dodgy people are those who have come out of prison, like smak addicts and the like. It has something to do with probation services.

At the beginning of this century the Royal College of Nursing and another medical organisation said that half the hospital beds in the country were occupied by patients with alcohol related conditions. The logic being that a large number of health conditions are caused/aggravated by alcohol. Within two years of the introduction of Prohibition in America new admissions to mental hospitals had dropped by 90%. Gentiles are 13 times more likely to develop alcoholic psychosis than Jews. Apparently this is true. I was listening to some biochemist chap saying alcohol plays havoc with your system and its ability to digest food, and so you get a whole chain of problems.

Er, you don't have to have any.
I haven't had any tonight, I've been on Erdinger Alcohol Free. Last night I had real Guinness and single malt whisky.
Don't bully those of us who do like the odd tipple.

Some people who can't control their drinking think that others can't either.

I think people are generally OK with social drinking even in excess when they are in the company of people they know .You rarely if ever see people being out of order in social clubs or pubs I would regard as the 'local' . There just isn't any bad vibes that would set anyone off and if there were getting bared from your own drinking den is not going to be your best night out is it . Its probably why I don't see any trouble in places I drink as everyone knows everyone else .
As for drinking brings out the worst in people I have to disagree . My pals seem to get funnier as the night progresses ,that might be me more than them but Ive a mate who hardly say's a word before he has had 5 pints then goes off in a joke filled humorous rant for about the next hour and a half on the topic of the day . Its that regular that we (the rest of us) joke that if we have got anything else to say we had best say it now because kens about to order his sixth pint !
The trouble seems to kick off in and around pubs that attract transient drinkers out looking for trouble ,do you blame that on drink or the arseholes drinking it ?
I go for the latter
