The way it works under Chinese constitutional practice is the government follows the mainstream interests. Our dictatorship is just feathering its own nest.

Dictating to the people, is not following the "mainstream" interests, it is deciding what is best for people and forcing it on them whether they like it or not.
We had too much of that from the EU Commission who were (to a point) kept in check by elected MEPs.
That system wasn't good enough.
What happens in China is a million times worse and people have been murdered by the state for speaking out.
People have the right to believe in whatever religion they wish, so long as they do not bully others with it.
What is happening in China is state bullying, and that is in nobody's interests whatsoever.

It's only very recently that this country has allowed other religions to take hold. Back in Medieval England there was only one god and the Islamics were the enemy. Recall the anti-witching laws that came in during the 15c. You may scoff, but remember Medieval Britain was the foundation stones to the empire that would later emerge. It seemed Christianity was more powerful than all the other ones put together. Now look at us. No one bothers with Christianity and it is currently being outlawed, and now our country is a complete failure. It's going backwards, not forwards. It can't even think straight thanks to all the cults, otherwise knows as religions. |
