LOL! Since when has that ever happened? For years Maybe once-upon-a-time but these days I beg to differ.

The police and the authorities already have sufficient powers to control, redirect, stop, clear the King's Highway and effectively police public order at such demos. The fact they do not is indicative of one or some of several things, insufficient police, a lack of will to control the demos, further desire to create new laws to control the populace, general incompetence, giving in to intimidation. Indeed. The laws were not the problem, the police were If you had to deal with some of the crap out there I wonder how you get on, ? how about the Notting Hill Carnival last one was quite peaceful only about half a dozen Officers were stabbed or slashed by some drugged up drunk drugged up racist arseholes in the crowd, the Officers just love being sent to Police it, why not join and show them how to do it Our Laws are constantly being changed it is nothing new they have to keep up with the times, our Police Police with the consent of the majority, its the minority that cause you and the Police all the problems. When was the last time you saw a large Demo out of control in London ? not as often as you think , all the Palestinian Demos we have had since Hamas attacked Israel have been very peaceful, very few arrests have been made out of a crowd of 200,000, all it takes is one wrong move by the Police and it could easily turn ugly and extremely violent, 2,000 Officers would not be able to stop them. The biggest threat to our Democracy is not the Government or the Police its the violent politically motivated minority that maybe in the Protest March, we saw that with the Miners Strike the aim of Scargill was to bring the Government down, that is what he chanted time and time again he failed thankfully had he won your vote would have been worthless Back in the 70's and before our Police had no stab resistant vests, pepper spray, ASP's, or tasers flame resistant overalls , riot helmets and visors, now they need them thanks to the violent minority

My own view is that the police should declare the Noting Hill carnival un-police-able and warn the public that they attend at their own risk and that residents should evacuate / protect themselves. This would put pressure on the government to close down the event or arrange for an alternate in the Caribbean or the forests of the Congo (allowing governments in these places being co-operative) Twelve people blocking a major road because they have a bee in their bonnet is a completely different situation and one that is easily managed. The fact that police refused to do so in my mind amounts to deliberate abuse of the public and it has nothing to do with the law. The abuse was followed through by the government who, rather than pursue inquiries, sackings and prosecutions for the responsible parties, simply did nothing at all.

The Left and their Hamas buddies are giving government Stalinists every excuse they need to strip us of our democratic rights. There will be no legal means to genuinely tackle Big State once those like Cleverly have trashed the system. Speakers’ Corner has been the place people have been able to voice their opinions for many years, but that’s now become too small scale for today’s activists. So why not do like Brazil did with Carnival when it outgrew Rio — have a special dedicated space for people to perform and be noticed? Battersea Park and/or Hyde Park could house such venues, then all other disrupting demos could be made illegal and those blocking London streets could be carted off and charged… Speakers Corner used to be a place where anyone could turn up unannounced and speak on any topic they liked, indeed the list of people who are known to have spoken there is long and includes such notables as Marx, Lenin, Orwell, George Bernard Shaw, Winston Churchill, Billy Graham, Lord Soper, and Tony Benn. But those days are gone. If anyone in this Christian country is stupid enough to preach from the bible at speakers corner they will be swiftly removed by the police, perish the thought "peace loving Muslims" may become offended.

You must have different News on your TV to me, the Police have arrested hundreds of people for blocking the roads and motorways the Dartford Crossing Bridge , those two are still in Prison, some are still awaiting their Court Cases, Police can now due to a change in Legislation can now issue a Dispersal Order fail to comply and they arrest them Those that cause Criminal Damage to buildings are arrested and charged Personally I would ban the Notting Hill Carnival costs too much to Police and the potential for violence is always a strong possibility

I have seen hours of footage of long tailbacks stuck behind small numbers of 'protesters' blocking roads and the police 'managing the situation' by protecting an entirely imaginary right to stand in the middle of the road and block usage. This is police power being deliberately used to abuse the public. The government commented on this and prepared several clarifications and directives, which were simply ignored by the police as they continued to abuse the public - as I would put it bluntly , fucking the public up the arse and charging them for the indignity. The people responsible for the police behaving like private, politically motivated warlords rather than guardians of law and order, suffered no consequences and are still at their posts. They should have been sacked and prosecuted.

That ^ annoyes me so much. The Met had the TSG on standby this afternoon, I suspect the powers that be decreed it would have been racist to use them, unless some far right extremist dared to wave a St Georges flag, obviously.

What a load of bollocks from your imagination which bit of the Police are independent from the Government do you not understand ? it is down to the Officers who make the decisions when it comes to Policing especially when it come to any Protest March or Easter Parade Sporting Event all of it filmed back to the Yard Officers on the ground when some of the Protesters do not behave make the decisions who is breaking the Law need arresting there and then, Police use Common Sense one wrong move and the rabble can turn ugly in seconds , been there done that

The TSG are normally on standby at large gatherings and as they are mobile have all their Protective Gear on board, as when and if they need to be called in they can be deployed, it will be the Senior Officer on the ground who will make that decision, no matter what Police do they will always be called racists

This corruption should have been investigated 10 out of 10 for nonsense and your vivid imagination Let me try an analogous scenario on you. Perhaps it will help illustrate what i am saying. Imagine if people blocked roads on behalf of the literal Mafia. Protesters stood and blocked major roads protesting a lack of government funding for the Mafia. Should the police allow our roads to be blocked by a small number of people in a fringe group with very minority concerns, or should the police clear the roads quickly so people aren't inconvenienced (taken hostage?)?

This is really about fending off strikes. The TFBs (Tory Fascist Bastards) have been trying to make striking illegal for ages, and they are perilously close to achieving it with this.

All The Best With groups like Aslef (and their 4-day shift pattern, days off in lieu if they work bank holidays — meaning they probably only work for six months of the year — now striking because £65,000 p.a. is not enough) isn’t it about time someone tried too bring sense to the UK’s bully boy Trade Union antics…?
