wapentake I can't see why anyone should. Surely all French School teachers are equally obliged to follow the law, and the ultimate responsibility for bad and divisive laws should rest with those who legislated for them, not upon those put into the difficult position of implementing such laws guaranteed to stir up ill will. A totally different situation, compared for instance, with one rogue teacher who suffers an aberration and voluntarily decides to find out the extent of the displeasure he might cause by turning up to class brandishing a copy of Charlie Hebdo and confronting his Muslim pupils with it. Voluntarism v Compulsion demanded by law ...... Chalk and cheese situations. Can’t see why you describe him as rogue when the same lesson had happened at the school before,do you find find lessons in gender ok and would you object if some people threatened a teacher who taught that forced them out of their employment and home?

wapentake The important thing is surely that the parents are content with the subjects being taught and the methods by which their children are taught. I've never attended any gender lessons, so haven't found them good, bad, interesting, or boring. My intention was to reply that my knowledge of genders is limited, other than knowing there are supposedly 53 of them, but having googled to make sure, it appears that the figure is 72 The 72 (at least) genders. If it's important for young people to be able to distinguish between their condigender and their demifluid, then they need to get studying, and just because I seem to have managed reasonably well without even a scant knowledge of the 72, it doesn't mean that kids should skip their gender homework. Having looked at the list and the descriptions, it's my opinion that any poor teacher lumbered with teaching that, should be pitied and extended every sympathy, and certainly not threatened.

So it’s ok to threaten a teacher because one kid went home told religious parents who brewed up a storm which was brought down on his head. But parents of kids with an objection to gender educati may not,so kids shouldn’t skip their gender education but freedom of press and religious extremism education oh dear me no. Double standards don’t you think?

Maths, English, Freedom of the Press, Gender ..... teacher any or all of it without bringing Charlie Hebdo caricatures of Mohammad into it, and your cushy life as a teacher can continue on its sweet way. Anger and insult the parents (and frankly whether one child or twenty explains what the Teacher got up to, it won't have changed the reality of what happened) and you bring trouble to the school and in this case to yourself as well. Again with reference to the link in the opening post ..... 'It’s a shame that the teacher concerned did not have the confidence to allow a mediated return to work' .... I'd suspect it didn't require much self reflection for this 'Teacher' to conclude he was lacking in the necessary common sense for the job, and has chosen a fresh start in pastures new. Give it a couple of months and he might pop up with his own show on GB News
