Why should anyone in this country have to flee a mob? Why should anyone have to change their name to avoid being victim of a de facto fatwah by an evil cult which is at odds with British values and democracy? Three years this has been. The school should have backed the teacher from the word go and stood by him. The mob outside the school should have been warned, then arrested. The Police should have brought in support, if necessary, and used judicial orders to stop the intimidation and gatherings. If they can stop Christians praying near abortion centres, surely they can stop Muslims intimidating a teacher who was lawfully carrying out their duties to teach our children. Be careful when slinging accusations around — the royal family had to change its name to please the patriots in this great land by replacing the historic name of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha with Windsor… Did the Royal family go in to hiding and left without employment.

Teacher in hiding two years after death threats over showing cartoon of prophet MohammedAfter showing pupils the cartoon at Batley Grammar School in West Yorkshire in March 2021, parents and activists protested at the school gates for days. The teacher was forced to flee his home in Batley with his partner and four young children and since then has been living in a secret location outside the Yorkshire area, reports claim. The teacher, who was head of RE at Batley Grammar, has also been given a new identity. www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1743624/Teacher-in-hiding-prophet-Mohammed-cartoon-Batley-Grammar-School-West-YorkshireJust listened to someone on GB News who is in contact with this teacher who said he was a broken man, his life is wrecked. He has been abandoned by his employer and the people who demonstrated and sent death threats have been completely ignored by the police, because they're Muslims. And some people say we do not have two tier policing in this country. Personally, I would have thought that anyone with enough brains to be a teacher should have been able to recognise the likely religion of pupils in their class, and the possible opinions of parents and guardians. “Why should they?” you might say. But as a loyal viewer of GBNews, you must surely realise that logic and sense seldom guides those who pontificate on what they consider the important items in the news…

Furthermore wasn’t the use of a Charlie Hebdo cartoon used in a religious studies class with no intent to offend a legitimate learning tool?

I have no idea of the intentions of the teacher caught up in the Batley Grammar School fiasco. But I would have hoped that schoolteachers were more clued up these days than appears to be the case…

Shouldnt a religious studies teacher discuss contemporary events?

It’s an easy decision. Any teacher should be aware of the sensibilities of the community they’re in. Being a happy idiot shouldn’t be an option…

My opinion is that the teacher made a mistake that shouldn’t have been made — a bit like thinking he could pull out of the side road in front of an oncoming 20 ton truck. Both scenarios have consequences…
