If you say so Baron Empiricism is my guide. Are you sure lad ?
I mean, when all those old ladies patted you on the head and asked if your mother knew where you were, did you not think that they were trying to tell you something ?

The old ladies like me and often come up to chat. This town has seen a generational shift in culture. They are from a time when men acted like men. I cause the young wokers to have a fit, but the same attitude as far as their generation is concerned is something to be admired. The lady should not be expected to fight battles. It's the same attitude over in Malta, so my Maltese women expects me to fight her battles. Currently she is being attacked by lawyers so this morning I've been decoding Maltese development law.

This is no doubt unfair, but the above conjurors up an image of the Baron working Strait Street and introducing the local ladies to sailors

Her sister is a countess and her father is in who's who as a surgery pioneer who specialised in ear nose and throat. Other relatives includes a professor who teaches English at Oxford and a former governor of the Bank of Malta, plus a minister of education. You really would not believe how non-normal she is. Maltese society is like we were back in the Middle Ages. You get certain families that own and run everything. The thing is you might not have guessed all of this if you met her. I suppose you would pass her off a a nutter.
