Absolutely outrageous, this is where all our money is being wasted. Yep sit in a nice warm office and get paid £125k per annum. And then get £4.6 million for so called PTSD....Yet . medics the fire fighters and police who attended and are more deserving get sweet FA and have to carry on regardless. If the councils can afford to pay some idiots at £125k have no case to ask for extra funds. I bet she will still be on an index lincked pesion that we ALL have to finance.. |

Wouldn't surprise me if the plan was hatched during drinks in the pub and the share out has already taken place . We had one of our councillors forced to stand down a couple of years ago for miss management of funds . Her redundancy package included a half million lump sum ,signed off by the council leader . |

The standard of living is higher
The health system is good
Pensions and pensioners are far better off
public transport is excellent
There's a joke going around Eastern Germany at the moment amongst younger people, the question is "what was it like living in the old East Germany", and the answer goes like this ... "book a holiday to England and find out".
Most people who have decided to NOT vote Conservative at the general election wont change their minds, because they feel that change is necessary, and that it cannot be any worse than THIS.

You're right, the standard of living and quality of life is better in Germany as it is in most Western European countries with the possible exception of Spain and Portugal.
But that's not because Germany has been ruled by a non-conservative party. With the exception of the 1970s and a few years in the late 80s when the SPD was the ruling party, the centre-right CDU/CSU has been in control since the Federal Republic was founded in 1949.
In the most recent (2021) elections the CDU/CSU won the largest number of seats but has had to enter a coalition with the SPD, whose leader Olaf Scholz took on the role of Chancellor.
