The problem with this plan is, they will take the £3k and a free one way economy ticket to Rwanda. Once in Rwanda they will quickly discover they don't get all the benefits and freebies they got in this country so they will use the £3k to buy a first class ticket back to Londonistan and of course, it would be against their human rights to stop them. In fact, it would probably be racist. which is why it needs to be conditional upon getting the three grand that they sign up to agree they can never try it on again with us. THEN it becomes rather a good deal Yes on the face of it that seems reasonable. But after an immigrant HAS agreed to such a deal then weeks later he turned up back in this country, would the ECtHR and lefty lawyers such as Starmer insist signing such a document was against his human rights in the first place? In view of what's happened in the past I tend to think they would. At which point the whole legal circus would start again. Personally I don't think any scheme like this stands a chance of working as long as we remain signatories to the ECHR and come under the influence of the ECtHR.

I don't have much of an issue with this scheme, but I do wonder
a) what's in it for Rwanda, as the previous scheme was reciprocal?
b) is it an admission that the current scheme won't get off the ground?
c) who would it act as a deterrent for?

my thoughts exactly. If they want the £3k they need to open an account with the bank of Rwanda and claim it in person there and if they transfer it in to dollars they'll have $3,838.47 exchange rate, so they'll make $838.47 before they hit the tarmac. 🙈

In what world have you interpreted "I don't have much of an issue with this scheme" as being "outraged"? My guess is you didn't actually read what I wrote. 🙃

Right, so am I outraged here or am I OK with the proposal?
And then when you've answered that, there were the 3 points that I raised... 🙄
