They take the easy path. Should they arrest a couple of Hamas supporters and risk a huge crowd overwhelming them? Or should they remove the source of the criminal crowd's ire? The fact is, taking the action they did emboldens the Hamas supporters, which they clearly are, by their actions. Hamas are terrorists, proscribed terrorists by law. Several months ago when 'Just Stop Oil' protestors were blocking roads, my son who lives in France told me that French people were watching it on TV and laughing at British police. I was annoyed and embarrassed. As I have said many times, appeasement does not work. I listened to a reporter yesterday (Pip Thompson) who was on the streets of London reporting on the Palestine/Hamas demonstration. She said the demonstrators will test the police to see how much they can get away with. They will chant the river to the sea dirge for a few seconds to see what the police reaction is. When there is no reaction they see it as a green light, the same with full face coverings and Hamas flags. The police are not policing, this is due to incompetence at the top - the Prime Minister, the Home Secretary, the mayor and the Met Commissioner are all to blame.
And the media, lefty-lawyers and do-gooders - who all vilify the police the second they take any kind of action, arrest a "Protester" or shoot a bad guy.

The man who assaulted the bannerman has been identified as Abdul Madi who works at Pinnicle Wealth managers as an associate. He has 'vanished' from their website but can be found using Wayback:
I'm sure that the police will be speaking to him tomorrow

I make no secret of my opposition to Nutanyahu and his govt and what’s happening in Gaza however I think the targeting of Jews in this country is despicable, We are not the Middle East and there is a right to protest but no right to violence or intimidation by any side,it should be made clear that the law will be applied and with some rigour.
There’s a lot of criticism of the police,we are lucky in this country that in general we are policed fairly,I have worked in Germany though some years ago and the police didn’t bother with questions or niceties when faced by even a hint of any violence and I don’t think that’s changed much.
I think failures in policing are down to political interference and some of the higher echelon.

The fact is, taking the action they did emboldens the Hamas supporters, which they clearly are, by their actions. Hamas are terrorists, proscribed terrorists by law. Taking the easy path will only end one way .As you say the mob will become ever more emboldened which will eventually lead to confrontation with the Met who as we have previously seen will run away . The streets of London will then well and truly be lost I can recall Anjem Choudary and half a dozen of his supporters in Luton watching the soldiers parade returning from Afghanistan and shouting baby killers etc at them. One person was quite annoyed in the crowd and remonstrated with them the police removed him and formed a protective ring around Choudary's group to protect them from violence and threats. The large crowd of mostly British were uncomfortable with the demonstration but accepted it with a degree of phlegm although it was the catalyst for the forming of the EDL. If one contrasts the police action then with the police action now we can see a totally different reaction to events yet the circumstances were in effect identical.

I wonder if that will go down as another "Unsolved" rape case?
