There is the new varsity line coming, linking Cambridge to Oxford, and the London Cambridge Oxford triangle, primed for serious development. The Cambridge transport infrastucture is undergoing serious planning, a third station is planned, with mass transit coming, light rail possibly underground. Even now there is a shortage of lab space. There are no high rise buildings in Cambridge, guess whats coming.

Shortages in something always makes the price go up. You may well find the opposite and realise now is a good time to sell before the thousands of new homes come on the market. |

I was not talking about you, but purely on my estimation of the sense of an investment in property. If you personally want to live in Cambridge then it won't make any difference because whatever you sell property for is the level that you buy it at since you are operating in the same local market. If you are a property investor and have properties all over the place I would sell what I had invested in Cambridge property.
The reasons are two-fold. First of all it is a government scheme and you know how well governments manage stuff. They are corrupt and have zero business sense, hence why every government industry fucks up.The second reason is to do with where I see Cambridge in terms of academic excellence. It used to be top and drew in a lot of foreign talent, especially from the Far East, where they had nothing in terms of academic institutions until recently so they had to come over to Cambridge to learn what's what. The government over there used to pay for them as well because knowledge on matters like how do you build a nuclear reactor was essential for the development of their country. Cambridge was well-suited due to the record it held in science. Since then though a number of things have happened.
1) Government is clamping down on visas and making more restrictions for them.
2) Diplomatic relations have broken down with China.
3) The whole of the West, but most particularly the US and its dog the UK has gone woke. Think of woke in terms of a logical brain hemorrhage. It totally destroys academia, and makes it look like a clown.
4) Chinese academic institutions have now hit the top in terms of world standards, and in particular the Chinese Academy of Science is now number one, so it is displacing the previous top dogs which were in the US.
In essence we have a mismatch between politician's projections of the brilliance and world class status of Cambridge to the reality on the ground and more importantly where it will be in 5-10 years. The problems come first, then they are hidden, then eventually there is a realisation that someone was lying.

As i see it Cambridge will become as, or more pricey than London, it will be a city solely there for the Uni and high tech, theres nothing else there. It has been prepared for this for some time. Cars are being chased out so the rich can use the roads, the link with Oxford will increasee co-operation. South Cambridge and London will probably run into each other in time. Londoners are flocking here in anticipation.
You wont be told. You are not always right, the speculation and self satisfied certainty of the above is off the scale. The Chinese are ...whats the word for in bred itellectually, oh and socially, intellectually, fenced off, an island, self seeking, selfish, tyranical, lacking in roundedness, immature, flea like, proud....but of what? supeerior, all the hallmarks of a spoilt child, growing into a adult world that will cut ego into shape.

The chinese should stick to eating chicken feet, know their place, be co-operative not belligerent, world poisoners, why when emerging from pre history in 1980 or whenever did thay have to become fascist dogs? I cant think of a use for China, like Russia they harm the world, not help it. When did you see a food tent in Somalia with a chinese flag over it. As for food, there are more bones in chicken feet than meat, like the chinese head.

These are the geese that lay the golden eggs. Some eggs can make billions, so that draws investors in and eventually you have fantastic growth and riches.
The issue here is what happens if the geese stop laying these eggs. This is your single point of failure and without it you get economic collapse.
I'm warning you that there are early signs that the geese are having trouble. Your best guide is to read the scientific literature and see who comes from where. Sorry to disappoint but China is homing on this area of commerce big time. You have competition where you did not have it before. Now one other consideration is if you track things backwards and you look at who laid these golden eggs that have gone on to be big money spinners, if we look at the proportion from UK and US top institutions, a lot of Chinese ex-pats have their names on the papers. A few decades ago it was more Japanese, but now more Chinese and also Korea. Korea is a hot tech centre. It's one f the few places in the world who still mass produce chips. Japan fell out of that industry badly. You should learn from their experiences.

How did this thread swerve into one about the Chinese ? Three guesses anyone? It's the second biggest economy in the world. Science is global. China leads in many scientific fields now. On the bright side people say for AI it is 1st US, 2nd China and 3rd UK, so its not all dismal. |

China nicks the wests tech, and is good at making wind up toys. On a basic level the mixing of genes enhances genetic development, the collective IQ of the Cambridge Oxford collaboration leaves the genetic blue print of China in the dust.
As pigs and geese still live in the same space as the population, i wonder if the chinese high tech proffesors still have goose brain synapses still shooting minor electrical impulses round their noggins, resulting in a better wind up bloke riding a bike.
What injection of new genes has China had recently?
Oh, you can add pig brains to the mix, goats, chickens and pigeons. If it moves china eats it because theres not a lot of food development around resulting in stupidity. Are you chinese Baron?, or of that type.? If your half chinese go back mate with a chinese gal, and boost the gene pool by a fraction.
