Corbyn launching legal action against Farage
Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has announced legal action against Nigel Farage, accusing him of making "a highly defamatory statement".
The Islington North MP, who sits as an independent, said on X he has asked his lawyers "to take the first steps in commencing legal proceedings" against him.
"We are a movement for peace — and we cannot stand by and let these disgusting and malicious lies go unchallenged," he added.
It's not known what statement Mr Corbyn is referring to, but it comes after Mr Farage suggested he believed a "madcap conspiracy theory that Jews run the world".
He made the comment on GB News as he responded to criticism from Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, who made several digs at Mr Farage during PMQs last week

Announcing he believes in a mad conspiracy about Jews when presumably Farage does not have any basis to say that could well cost him dearly. This is because the talking twat was not down a pub but on the telly. You say that down a pub and even if Corbyn does succeed in defamation, it would not be worth a lot by only being heard by a table full of people. On GB News though you have to be careful what you say. So the idea is pub-> pub talk/TV-> serious talk.

The Corbyn has been insulted by the best there is, so why he would now take offence at the Farage is a little odd, but I guess we shall see.

Corbyn is a politician true, but Farage isn't, which was probably a relief as gets to ponder over things a lot more. On several occasions he has point blank refused to get drawn back in. I think you might be on dodgy ground somewhat, as the Chinese have never been known to lie, have they?

Defamation is when you say something factual about someone which is untrue and damages their reputation. For it to damage the reputation it has to be believable, so as a comic I could say he is from another planet and that would be a joke, but this case revolves around his trade as a politician. In my cursory opinion I would guess he has a good chance of cashing in. As with all cases though you would have to inspect it very carefully to know if it is worth pursuing because costs are very high. I think it has passed that hurdle or we would not have heard of it.
