Hate preachers will be blocked from entering the UK under new plans being drawn up by the Government amid a “shocking increase” in extremist activity. Officials will identify the most dangerous extremists from countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan and Indonesia, so they can be added to visa warning lists. Under the plans, those on the list will be automatically refused entry to the UK. Ministers also believe they can use existing national security powers to boost efforts to bar people from entering the UK who are deemed to be “non-conducive to the public good”. This could include blocking individuals who have a track record of preaching racism, incitement, or using intimidation or violence to undermine the democratic process. www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/03/02/hate-preachers-to-be-barred-from-uk-entry/This is of course good news, but it raises a couple of obvious questions: 1. Why on earth aren't 'hate preachers' already banned from entering this country? 2. Since new legislation is not being considered (Probably be racist) will lefty lawyers get around current legislation?

Indeed why was it not done a long time ago It was back in 2005 . This latest government 'law' is just a re-jig of that as far as I can see . They hardly used the previous powers , Geert Wilders was banned in 2009 by then home secretary Jacqui Smith (labour) as an undesirable person after being invited by members of the house of lords to speak at a meeting in the Palace of Westminster Just the Cons making noises when their inaction has been exposed .

Yes, you are right. The article says "new plans" rather than "new laws" and I suspect that the whole article is an attempt by a dying Tory party to gain a couple of votes.
