But not less suicide.
If you want to reduce suicide rates you have to provide better mental health support. And not just official mental health support from the state, more places for people to go talk to each other, more places for people to go and chill. More clubs, more pubs, more recreation.
Do that and suicide rates will go down a bit.
Even a few hours on a golf course with friends can do wonders.

There is discussion of legalised assisted suicide in most of the developed world in the case of terminal or “unbearable” illness and/or disability. If/when assisted suicide becomes legal, what’s the barrier to mental conditions being an acceptable reason…?

I knew of someone who suffered a brain injury in a road accident. It changed her personality and she didn't like the person she'd become.
So she killed herself. It was very sad, but I could see her point.
I can however foresee huge legal arguments around "Capacity".
