Fury over plans to house asylum seekers in tiny Cumbrian town which already has a dire shortage of homes for local people. The proposals are opposed by the council and mayor as well as many local residents on the basis there are already 112 local families on the housing waiting list - link
I often hear lefties say this is a myth, that illegals, asylum seekers, immigrants call them what you will, are not given priority over local people who have been on housing waiting lists for years. The fact is, illegals, asylum seekers, immigrants, are given priority over local people.

The obvious question is that is if property renovations can be funded for the benefit of asylum seekers in a run-down place like this, which has a significant number of locals on its housing list, why can't that funding be used for the benefit of locals?
I think the answer lies here:
"A Home Office spokesperson said: ...‘The Home Office has a duty to provide safe and secure housing for asylum seekers'"
but it doesn't have any such duty towards our own people.
That needs to change.

That needs to change. Of course Dan. But that aint gonna happen. Any initiative to prioritise our own people would be considered to be racist. Or xenophobic. Or whatever.

That needs to change. And this is the ongoing absurdity of the situation. Thanks to legislation penned in 1950 we must regard criminals who enter this country from France, as asylum seekers/refugees. Both Labour and the Tories refuse to stop this insanity. What can voters do? Vote Reform UK perhaps? Is there another option?

Not 1950, but 1999. The Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, one of Tony Blair's proudest achievements.

Starmer will be a drop-in replacement. He was installed for that purpose. And if you vote in the other party, you will get the other stooge who will do nothing about it. It will eventually be resolved through people power. The government will find it can pass whatever law it likes, but out in the real world they won't be able to enforce it. The hints will become less and less subtle until they get the feelings of the Brits.
