Over the time I've spent with homeless charitys putting money and time in. They seen 100,000 of homeless people put into permanent Accommodation. I have not advocated slavery.
Anyone in a modern workhouse would be paid a living wage, fed, clothed, and kept warm.
I have advocated emancipation from homelessness.
The children of the unemployed are a completely separate issue.
They are covered by conventional family allowance and their parents receive unemployment and housing benefits.
What I am talking about is getting homeless people off the streets, a bed for the night, a hot meal, clean clothes, cash in their pockets, whatever help they need, and a sense of purpose.
That is not slavery.

Vinny, the war against the left cant be won, its not about whats best, its a war, they think logic is a dish.
Work brings self respect, independence, solvency, who can argue against that? The left. Indeed, the unemployable, or workshy, if they had an sort of mental health would jump at the chance of work being provided. Instead they draw benefits and work, under the counter, drugs, stolen goods, un taxed work, if they were compelled to work their income would drop.
To the left wont get this, his next comments will be desperate, silly, laughable, if he does.
Great thread, if we were incharge this would be a great step forward, no one but us wants that though, including sunak and labour, the howls would be incredible uman rights......i pay income tax twice, what about my rights, not to have my hard earned cash p issed up the wall.

 Basic rooms with a bed a lockable storage chest, access to toilets, showers, communal kitchens, a postcode so they can open a bank account and save their money up (but not borrow).
Anyone in a workhouse would be banned from borrowing on a credit card or basic bank loan, so they'd have to save up.
Then when they have a deposit for rent / mortgage, they can buy or rent a place.
Give them the help they need to get back on their feet, and when the time comes, to move on into normal work.

Oh my.oh my it's getting worse homeless people are often a danger to other people because of various reasons yet your suggesting there live in a shared commune crazy. Men would be offered shelter with men.
Women with women.
Mentally ill people housed in lunatic asylums.
Criminals would go to prison.
No slavery.
Just a set of policies to help people back onto their feet and prevent deaths on the streets.
And that's a damn sight more than there is now.
Btw, the Big Issue is a sort of workhouse type policy.
That saves lives.
One of my friends used to be a Big Issue seller in the 90's, he now has a wife, kids, house, mortgage.
The Big Issue saved his life.

Essentially, they are. But, no work, no pay. This is not benefits. So what is wrong with capitalism? Your view is government knows best. This was how the market was run in the soviet union. Everyone had quotas and the government would decide what people could buy, how much and at what price. Of course we know now the government does not know best and we see this in the post office trial. |
