I did state earlier that medical staff from overseas had to have qualifications to work within the NHS, and or Private Medical Sector which is required
However according to the Guardian today
Hundreds of frontline NHS staff are treating patients despite being under investigation for their part in an alleged “industrial-scale” qualifications fraud.
More than 700 nurses are caught up in a potential scandal, which a former head of the Royal College of Nursing said could put NHS patients at risk.
The scam allegedly involves proxies impersonating nurses and taking a key test in Nigeria, which must be passed for them to become registered and allowed to work in the UK.
“It’s very, very worrying if … there’s an organisation that’s involving themselves in fraudulent activity, enabling nurses to bypass these tests, or if they are using surrogates to do exams for them because the implication is that we end up in the UK with nurses who aren’t competent,” said Peter Carter, the ex-chief executive of the RCN and ex-chair of three NHS trusts.

That's one part of the puzzle. The other is to what extent is the need for foreign workers in the NHS driven by the presence of large numbers of foreign residents? In brief, if the foreigner residents weren't here would we still need as many foreign workers? Or indeed any at all? Well indeed.
We're told that we need foreign workers because of the increasing population. But how much of that is down to... foreign workers?
So yes, it will reach a point (if it hasn't already) when we need to import foreign workers to manage the demand created by the foreign workers already here.
We must be mad, literally mad.

I don't know if anything exists contractually, that after training they have to work so many years in the NHS, but it should. Would save an awful lot of bother.

I read a report this morning where 20.000 firemen nurses and police men/woman are on sick leave.. That's not actually that many when you consider how many people are employed by the NHS/Fire/Police/Ambulance etc.
Plus many of those services treat their front line staff absolutely appallingly.
I know plenty of cops who can't wait to leave.

I wonder why it is that key workers aren't prioritised in the health system. Surely it's more important to get police/firefighters etc back to work than it is to say, treat a retired person.
I'm not talking life saving stuff obviously, but if it's a knee operation or something then surely it's better to treat a key worker first and get them back to work?

Allegations of NHS Trusts Manipulating Staff Shortages During Junior Doctors’ Strike.....
What's the problem?
If medical staff can be shown where withdrawing their labour is dangerous for patients, and are then persuaded that they should modify their strike action accordingly, it's surely a responsible outcome?
What is wrong is the way less senior essential medical personnel in the NHS are treated in terms of working hours and pay. Unfortunately, the current government hasn't shown itself to be concerned with getting an NHS that's a worthwhile employer or health provider for patients...
