Big corporations are more powerful than politicians. Starmer and Reeves know it . Somebody should tell the growler too.

Energy Bills Support Scheme
The Energy Bill Support Scheme gave every household a £400 discount on their energy bills for winter 2022 to 2023. This ended in March 2023.
fuck knows how much that's going to end up costing the tax payers, so in other words the tax payers have funded themselves so energy companies could continue to give themselves huge salaries and bonuses, with record profits .... BTW we have to pay that money back, we've just loaned it to ourselves to pay our over inflated energy bills.

What manifesto FFS? Keir Starmer’s ‘bombproof’ manifesto shows Labour is ready for an election.... Labour has spent the past few weeks performing a series of U-turns on previously announced policies as it finalises its manifesto, culminating in Thursday’s announcement of a huge cut to its green spending plans.
Beyond the cuts to the £28bn annual spending pledge, party insiders have also let it be known they no longer intend to abolish the House of Lords, might reduce their planned tax on private equity profits and will not legislate to create a National Care Service.

A family business ( a baker, butcher, greengrocer or pharmacy etc ) on a high street in the centre of a town or city pays huge levels of business rates.
A gigantic warehouse on an industrial estate, miles from the town centre, pays much, much less in business rates.
One of the reasons why our high streets are dying is because mega corporations like Amazon have many unfair advantages, one of which is cheaper rates, others include not having to have costly retail space and not having the same customer to staff ratio.
Personally I would have prefered an "On Line Transaction Tax" whereby every purchase carried out on line carries a 2% surchage, as opposed to putchasing from a high street shop, keeping much loved high street names going, supporting LOCAL businesses, and supporting the local economy.
Its an excellent idea, and it ought to be welcomed

Why not wait until the two main political parties actually publish their election Manifesto's ? Which will take place as soon as the general election is announced Anything contained within the Manifesto of the winning party, which is then not carried out in government, can then justifiably be called a broken promise.

What do you base your assuption on Jonksy ?
Keir Starmer has yet to publish a Manifesto, but by all means you are entitlled to believe that he will publish one, and then renege on it, but of course its a baseless belief without previous form.
Personally I would say that failing to keep pledges whilst actually in government is much more serious

How can you have such a indecisive Prime Minister running the country?
It's clear he waits to see what will make him popular then jumps on the bandwagon, remembering with cringeworthy shudders, how him and his sidekick Rayner both took the knee, thinking it was a big vote winner for them, only to discover it pissed most people off, with their virtue signalling woke gestures.

Yes, but I accept the reasons given as been fully fact based reasons, such as the worsening fiscal situation from three years ago when the £28 Billion policy was announced, it does make sense.
In any case, the prospect of a government led by Starmer still seems a much better prospect of more of the same from a government which has produced minimal growth, falling living standards, more poverty, more food banks, falling living standards and worse public services.
For me, and seemingly for most people, anything has got to be better than this

It must be the only manifesto that has been made on the fly mate...Stramer tries to be a one size that fits all.
