Shame those police officers were not in Nottingham last year , would have saved a lot of grief . I would add though that those crossbows are as deadly as any gun and should be treated as such

I am not sure anyone has blamed lack of mental health facilities, appallingly bad as they are. It may very well turn out that the police actions were required in the situation. All very sad.

Even if that had been the case, situation was too far gone for any other response than a bullet. Glad that when it is necessary, our Police still have teeth, otherwise this could have been a much worse situation. My thoughts are with the police officer - I just hope that they don't get thrown under the bus in the name of diversity. |

Time will tell what this incident was all about. Most likely some combination of domestic and mental health I suspect. All very sad. Blaming a lack of mental health facilities seems to be par for the course these days. My diagnosis is he was suffering from acute Islam, which had spread to his brain. |

Nothing newsworthy here. Apart from the fact plod did their fucking job for once, the real job that is, the one every taxpayer pays them to do. |

He will lose his firearm ticket as a matter of course , put on gardening leave until internal and possible external inquiries are completed which could last months with long periods of questioning with his own lawyer and will have to undergo psychiatric evaluation and declared fit to return to work . Probably looking at a year away from operational duty if everything goes well for him . The dead guy has been reported to have been a cannabis smoking 'dark horse' which is just as well , if he had been a cannabis smoking 'dark man' the copper would have another few hoops to jump through . |
