I am a first generation immigrant, from the 1939 -45 intake. My parents came here from rural Friuli Italy in the mountains three miles from Yugoslavia, now Slovenia, , and Beloruss, who knows from where, my father would not say, he didnt want to be indentified, he was a pow in Scotland. its all poor. They worked hard, owned there own home, never relied on the state, took pride.

They came from poor backgrounds, seriously poor. Everything this country offered was pure gravy, everything was appreciated.

Not being poor never kicked in, even though they were not anymore. Then theres the english, taking wealth, safety, disposable income, good clothes, food, tv, a social life, holidays, good pay, cinema, curry, big houses, free health care, social services etc, for granted.

As the current intake of immigrants will, not them, but there descendants.

Then we will need more immigrants.

Wealth fosters what the Americans call trailer trash. English people think the government owes them a living, not so. Try living in Oznebrida in 1925, or any god forsaken Beloruusian village. Or with the current immigrants, Somalia, Syria, or any other wretched place. Do the english have an anchor in thanks, and appreciation?, no, there is a gulf that cannot be filled. Indeed, britain is so rich it pays people not to work.

The government, the people, live in a cuckoo world.
