My heart goes out to this gentleman. I've been thinking about him all morning. He's worked hard all his life and done an honest job, but now ripe for the picking.
And this chap
Another person they take for an idiot
Maybe some possible reasons here:

When is the motorist not being ripped off BVL? My insurance is up for renewal on march first and I will be moving to sterling as their offer is just £507 for the year and don't forget that is for business purposes and not just for recreation.

Yes but these retired folk have full no claims, don't do stupid stuff, but the firms this side of the border at least seem to think it is OK just to basically steal from them, knowing some suffer from dementia and the like. It makes them look like complete bastards.

It makes them look like complete bastards. Sorry, but of someone's got dementia they ought not to be driving. Fair point I suppose, but you know what I'm getting at. This is all to do with stuffing them on renewals. Old people have poorer memories, so something like that could easily be forgotten about. I mean they would not try it on if it did not make them money.

Its cheaper to pay the fine in the unlikely event you're caught with no insurance .

You are fucked up with this binary thinking. The world tends to operate in proportion. Like you never get smart and stupid, you get a continuum between the dumbest and the smartest. The scam works by creaming off the ones who made a mistake. They are total wankers in my opinion and should be shut down for unfair trading.

We are not talking abut total invalids here. It's a numbers game. They send out millions of those shabby deals and no doubt many tens of thousands or more get shafted, often due to a small clause which they did not understand since they did their best to hide it.
This way of doing business is endemic in this country. Why are these people such cunts? You tell me?

Its cheaper to pay the fine in the unlikely event you're caught with no insurance . The ANPR Cameras take pictures of uninsured vehicles and untaxed vehicles or vehicles of interest , if Police stop you they can issue you with a fine of £300 plus 6 points on your licence, and in some cases may impound your vehicle which means you have to pay fees to get it back, in some cases it will be crushed . If taken to Court for No Insurance an Unlimited Fine and even Disqualified as well , which means when your ban is over it will greatly increase you Insurance, IMHO it works out cheaper to pay for Insurance in the long run

All the regs for the people, no regs for the cunts profiting out of it by effectively stealing.

"theft of top of the range vehicles,"
I looked up the price of CLKs. You could pick one up for a little over 2 grand. They wanted 2 grand a year for the insurance.

Just because the car is taxed doesn't mean the driver is insured or even legal which makes the cameras a bit of a waste of time . In fact the police rely far too much on the cameras and the chances of being stopped are virtually nil
