I quite agree. That's why my battery is bolted to a very reliable V8 diesel engine which very rarely explodes. Lead acid are shit for many reasons. The only reason they are still in use is they were traditionally cheaper than lithium, so they are used for OAP buggies and the like where the manufacturer scrimps on quality of parts.
Eventually your exploding battery paranoia will disappear and you too will be using a modern battery.

Google 'Electric car goes up in flames', hundreds of links to peruse. The press are totally thick when it comes to technology. You can buy lithium batteries to replace the lead acid ones in standard cars. They are much lighter for a start and will need less maintenance and should perform well in cold weather. The problem with exploding batteries is often they are charged incorrectly. In fact what they do for car batteries is they incorporate the charging circuit in the battery to make sure the charging is correct. |

Batteries is something I have a reasonable understanding of. I have spent a fair bit of time studying the research and I'm trying to give you lot an honest view. If you think the MSM are more accurate then you are of course free to think it, but from my experiences of regular readers of such papers they are as thick as shit, where the audience of the stuff I tend to watch are often experts. You see I'm one of these science geeks.
