I visited London the other day. I was in Hampstead and Victoria. I've got to say though that despite all the warnings, I did feel safe in both places. I spoke to a few random people on the street in Victoria as I had got lost and was taken aback by the manners and helpfulness of the ones I asked. Hampstead seemed totally mellow as well and again the people we spoke to were friendly and good-mannered. Now I read a 16 year old boy was murdered on Primrose Hill on New Year's Eve. I walked across the very place that happened a couple of weeks before and didn't notice anything dodgy. London is pretty safe as long as you stay out of the obvious dodgy areas (exactly like big cities everywhere). The stabbings are pretty much all gang related, if you're not a gang member it's not something you're ever likely to be affected by. |
