I don't share Diane Abbott's policies. At the time of her error in respect of the police costing, not only was she dealing with a demanding political job, she was also dealing with her son suffering a very severe mental health crisis. Perhaps not surprising that she made a few mistakes at the time including the error on police costing. For me she deserves a little human empathy.

Or maybe she is just another left wing MP in a rock solid seat who knows that she can say black is white and still get elected.
Abbott has scores of aides who will knock up a brief that will stop her making too big a fool of herself, but she just does not care.
