Perhaps people should be forced to fund GB News whether they like it not, like the BBC. No, no, no... Instead of the BBC.
Then we'd at least get some impartial reporting.
Excellent point, I second the motion.

If you think GB News is impartial you clearly are incapable of stepping outside your own opinions and recognising genuine impartiality. The bias of GB News is far more overt than that of the BBC. The fact that you agree with it so often does not negate that.

Excellent point, I second the motion. The only motion you have seconded with that obvious turd of a point, is a bowel motion.

The fact that you agree with it so often does not negate that. I tend to agree that they are biased but that tends to be towards the general view of the population. They ask pertinent questions and invite some rather LW commentators to put their cases and in reality the opinions of the presenters/commentators is clearly stated to be their opinion. The BBC have a different tack, they present some information almost as settled as opposed to up for discussion and push certain aspects like global warming as not an opinion but as a fact with very little by way of counter argument.

define genuine impartiality and cite which media company you believe shows this impartiality.

define genuine impartiality and cite which media company you believe shows this impartiality. I do not think any media outlet is ever truly impartial. But there is an obvious difference between an outlet that aims to try to be and one that is brazenly impartial, employing politicians as presenters, invariably from one side of the political divide. If you cannot see the difference yourself you are being wilfully blind.

You are doing what so many do and mistaking your own view and those of your mates for the general view of the population. Yet there is ample polling evidence to tell you that the general view of the population is not trenchantly right wing. It might be right wing on some issues but is left wing on others.

I get where you are coming from. I do not agree with a poll tax on TV ownership. If a state broadcaster is going to be funded by taxation it should at least be rated in a way that takes account of the ability to pay. Alternatively, we should have the ability of choosing not to watch it if we dont want to pay for it. The technology definitely exists to scramble all BBC TV broadcasting to anyone who is not registered as having paid. Although we probably come at this from different directions, I oppose the license fee as well.

Anyway, well done to Nigel Farage in becoming £1.5 million richer. The nation is mostly grateful for our independence.

There is some logic in funding the BBC directly from the Treasury and General Taxation rather than having a separate tax. I guess they don't do it this way in order to promote operation of duties and at least partially protect the state broadcaster from being bullied by the government of the day when it is the BBC's job to report objectively on it. Of course any sensible debate on this matter is impossible in today's environment when the populists want to tear down our world regarded and replace it with a free market biased system whereby broadcast media reflects newspapers in becoming a mouthpiece for its owners (usually populist) political beliefs. We should fight that with all we are worth in my opinion.
