And until/if such a Party emerges, the best we can do is limit the mandate of the any elected parliament, and by extension government we get lumbered with, by giving them as little electoral legitimacy as possible. Not voting is the strongest protest 'vote' in current circumstances. You are of course quite wrong. Withholding your vote may seem virtuous at the time but we have seen record low turnouts for decades, voter turnout has been falling since the 1950's. Why? Because compared to the austere post war 1950's people today are comfortable, and comfortable people are less motivated to improve their lot. Not voting achieves nothing, it's a slap in the face for people who died in order to preserve future generations right to vote, if only they could see it. |

Agree with Red. I always vote, whatever the election, as your voice isn't heard if you don't. I've spoiled my ballot in the two West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioners elections, as I don't believe that these should be political appointments.
