I certainly don't remember "remembrance" being observed on both the 11th and the nearest Sunday until fairly recently. In my memory it was always the Sunday. Perhaps I am wrong. I notice football clubs are now having a minutes silence at the nearest home game sometimes two weeks before the relevant weekend. Does feel it's losing its impact now as a result.
People will of course gather in London before the start of both the centotaph silence and the march. As with any other individual, entirely up to them whether or not they chose to observe the official silence on one or both days.

Most workplaces and high streets have always had a moment of silence and thought on the 11th . That you haven't been observing it says more about you than those that do
The observed silence at Football clubs has been a tradition since the war . Many clubs as did other work places went off to war together fighting and dying side by side . That we remember them doesn't lose its impact , no not at all .
But yes its entirely up to the individual ,that freedom was hard won by the boys ,and they were boys , that some individuals will chose to forget .

I have to say my recollection is that until very recently we didn’t have two separate rememberance days. As I say perhaps I am wrong. Is there a difference between what we are supposed to be remembering on each day.
Having a minutes silence at football games on remembrance weekend is indeed well established. Again don’t remember until this season though clubs that are away on 11th November staging a minutes silence on the 4th November or even 29th October. Again I may be wrong but that feels new and for me lessens the impact. At least we haven’t started applauding in the 11th minute yet. Maybe next year…..

It seems the alleged attack never happened at all and that the poppy seller is a Walter (Mitty that is)and was never a para.
