I think you are over stating the current state of play. Nobody is celebrating people who chop babies heads off, people are celebrating the Palestinian fightback against an occupational army that has been murdering innocent people for decades. Unfortunately all wars lead to depravity by all sides, name one that hasn't. Fox did not just say 'shag' but you know that. he said in a demeaning, sexist manner on a national TV show to upset and intimidate his victim. However the Palestinian fightback did result in chopping babies heads off and many other things including disguising themselves as Israeli police to murder civilian revellers. We have to treat illegal migrants with kid gloves yet the same people who demand that are 'understanding' of some pretty horrendous atrocities. If all this is done in the name of a 'Palestinian fightback' then a;l Israel are doing is fighting back. It seems to be never ending because in the main the likes of Hamas are not interested in peace without the liquidation of Israel and the submission of Jews. This ties in nicely to the what is wrong with the left thread that highlighted the hypocrisy of the left in general. Brutality, murder and atrocity is excusable if the cause is just and it is the rising of oppressed peoples. How and why peoples are oppressed is of course a moot point. Yes, there were and are some horrendous crimes happening in Gaza on a daily basis and it is inexcusable, as you say. We get a lot of graphic detail about what Hamas have done to the Israeli's but hardly a word about what the Israelis are doing to the Palestinians. "The Israelis are having another phase of atrocities. The present problems started because Israel has decided to force Palestinians living in Jerusalem out of their homes so that Israelis can have them. The Palestinians in Jerusalem protested so the Israeli military came out in force against the protesters. Soon three Palestinians were killed. After those killings Hamas fired some rockets in Israel. In spite of reportedly hundreds of rockets being fired, only three Israelis were reported killed. Israel responded by sending bomber aircraft into Gaza to kill Palestinians. Yesterday the Israelis killed 9 children and 13 adults in Gaza. At the moment news reports say that 38 Palestinians have been killed by the Israelis and three Israelis killed. How many more Palestinians will the Israelis kill?" You accuse the left of 'supporting' the atrocities that Hamas has used in it's attack on Israel but that is not true, because the left consider Israel to be just as 'guilty' as Hamas they are somehow supporting the killing of civilians and children. What those on the right ignore is the reality of day to day life in Gaza, the worlds largest open air prison camp and concentrate solely on what Hamas are doing. The UN - “Israel’s transfer of its own population into the occupied territory confirms a deliberate intention to colonize the territory it occupies, a practice strictly prohibited by international humanitarian law,” they said. We should all be calling out Israel just as much as we call out Hamas. |

Relative calm is subjective and does not take into account of the daily incursions by Israeli's into Palestinian land. Again, relative calm spotlights the fact that very little of what Israel is doing is reported in the western press, evicting people who have lived in homes for generations and installing Israelis in them. Let's face it, Hamas did not one day wake up and say "let's attack Israel and chop off some babbies heads" after living in peaceful co-existence with Israel for decades. What Hamas have done is appalling but from what little I know of you you would have resisted occupation if a foreign power had annexed a part of England and was expanding by force. By that I do not mean I think you would have chopped off babies heads. |

Why should innocent UK citizens be drawn in to the conflict?
We are a host country to both Israel and Palestinian nationals, and we do not expect our country to be under siege, and if it is the culprits should be deported, part of their British status excludes them from being in any form of terrorist activity, or supporting it .... kick them out.

In not answering I must assume that you believe the Israel is not colonising Palestine and murdering civilians in the course of that colonisation, despite the evidence to the contrary. |
