UK signs sixth US state-level trade agreement
The UK is poised to sign its sixth trade agreement with a US state.
Industry and economic security minister Nusrat Ghani will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Washington state in Seattle.
The West Coast state is home to major US companies including Amazon, Starbucks, Microsoft and Boeing, with the aerospace sector a priority under the pact.
By notching up our sixth such deal we’ve surpassed the £2 trillion mark for combined GDP of states who’ve done a deal with the UK
Industry minister Nusrat Ghani With hopes of a full-blown trade deal with the US abandoned, Britain has been focusing on smaller state-by-state agreements.
The prospect of a transatlantic deal was viewed as one of the key potential benefits of Brexit, but former US president Donald Trump’s defeat by US president Joe Biden saw hopes of a deal fade.
The UK will now have MoUs with six US states with a combined gross domestic product (GDP) of more than £2 trillion, according to the Department for Business and Trade.
The other states are Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Oklahoma and Utah.

Why is this bad news for remainers? We've left, so we have to make the best of where we are. Johnson thought that a US trade deal was essential. We're not getting one, so doing piecemeal deals with individual states instead.

Many remoaners are starting to realise they have no idea what they miss about the EU, and most must be realising that the only ones who want back in the EU are the ones who want back on the EU gravy train, the EU did nothing for the ordinary people of the UK, and this just proves it, because none of the remoaners have a clue what it is they are suppose to be missing.

I hear young uns complaining that they cannot work in the EU anymore. I ask them if they can speak French, German, Spanish or Italian... they look sheepish. So basically the only job they would get is in some shitty bar serving British people... they could do that at home lol.
