A motorcyclist has been killed after a collision during a police chase in central London. The man died after a crash with both a taxi and street furniture whilst the motorcycle he was riding was being pursued by police. The passenger seated behind him sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his leg and arm, and was arrested after he was found to be carrying a machete. Officers pursued the pair in the early hours of Monday morning, at approximately 6.45am, after witnessing the vehicle jump a red light on Oxford Street. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/tottenham-court-road-arrest-police-crash-b2418077.htmlI await the protests of innocence from community leaders who will insist they were good boys who were innocently going shopping... ...armed to the teeth at 90mph with the police chasing them. Pretty routine for London.

That'll teach 'em, jumping a red light. Saves shooting them.

That'll teach 'em, jumping a red light. Saves shooting them. Well I suppose so, but the police will still be blamed for chasing them. The fact that they were attempting to escape from the police will be completely overlooked.

Ahem, I am a motorcyclist and what you are describing would appear to be a "promising young footballer" who happened to be on a motorcycle at the time of his demise.
Big difference.
But, let's just wait for the police to get the blame from the usuals.

I was also a motorcyclist albeit few years ago, and I suppose a "promising young footballer" makes a change from a "promising young rapper". Was it a motorbike or a scooter? In most clips I've seen they tend to prefer twist & go scooters, not as complicated as motorbikes I suppose.

Good cop I would say no-one injured except the criminals - machete, jumping a red light and then not pulling over.

I’ve only sympathy for the loss of life, and I don’t blame the Police — after all, when motorcyclists are in all their helmets and leathers, how can plod tell what ethnicity the riders are…

But you have to agree Pat, as far as young gang members are concerned the sanctity of life seems to be way down any list of priorities. Indeed when you look at gang violence and shooting/stabbing figures the obvious conclusion is that for some people, life is cheap.

Ahh, thank you. Yes indeed the trusty twist & go scooter. The go to mode of transport for the up & comming gang member about town. Often wrongly referred to as a motorbike or a moped.
