I don’t know all the ins and outs of this case except that an officer has been charged with murder and it would be wrong to comment on that.
What I am going to do is make a prediction that should an officer be convicted of killing a suspect and fellow officers believe they acted in good faith in that they believed they or others are at immediate risk whatever then comes to light after then there will be mass resignations from that unit and the recruitment of replacements will be close to nil.

I was always surprised that a gun, or other weapon, wasn’t found somewhere around.
It’s rapidly approaching time when the Met needs to be disbanded, all senior officers scrupulously vetted, and a reformed police training and re-training establishment tasked with providing an honest and untainted policing service.
At the moment, renaming the “police force” a service, and undertaking other decorative niceties, has so far proved to be simply attempting to polish a turd…

It extends further and I can’t help thinking we are near to breaking point and that isn’t good because what might follow would be much much worse imo.

With the correct people in charge, it could be so much better.
Unfortunately, the UK is becoming/has become more confrontational over the past 25 years.
Military brutality to combatants and new recruits has been covered up. And it's spread into the everyday.
Attempts to root out hard core violence in civilian life are blocked by factional supporters and sympathisers of a police force that has increasingly appeared to become like BNP/NF/EDL foot soldiers. Even White investigators, like Daniel Morgan, haven't been safe.
It's not too late, but there's many corrupt faces all through today's UK establishment, and it needs radical cleansing. And soon...

I wasn’t only referring to the police there’s lack of confidence in Westminster and it’s inhabitants,if you think it’s all confined to the right you are mistaken. And incidents with the military are nothing new surmising so you are sadly mistaken, whilst not condoning anything what do you expect when people are in a war situation? I worked with many WW2 veterans many often haunted by what they saw like the bloke attached to the Americans who witnessed them kicking ss to death at a liberated concentration camp because of what they witnessed.

Eh? - those Police getting on their knees at BLM demonstrations, taking part in Gay pride parades and arresting people for writing nasty things on Twitter about gays and transgenders are like the BNP? Give your head a shake Pat..

The Officer has appeared in Westminster Magistrates Court this morning, and remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey this afternoon for a Bail hearing .

From what has been revealed is that the car had been used in a criminal event 24 hours previously so armed police were called. They obviously believed he was armed.
Now that does not excuse him being shot yet assuming the evidence against the car stands up and if the criminal event involved firearms then they can probably point to the officer was over keen and as son as he saw anything that briefly resembled a fire arm he fired.
In that case manslaughter will probably be charged with two- four years suspended and loss of job. Compensation might be paid to the family though suspect there will be an investigation into his car. Did someone copy his plates or did he loan his car to criminal types, the family won't always know.

Eh? - those Police getting on their knees at BLM demonstrations, taking part in Gay pride parades and arresting people for writing nasty things on Twitter about gays and transgenders are like the BNP? Give your head a shake Pat.. How many Police are taking/have taken the knee at what number of BLM demos? And how many Police are or have been participants in Gay Pride? And how many arrests (of non Police) have there been for hate texts about gays and transgenders? With so many Met Police officers sacked and suspended and under investigation for corruption, violence, and unprofessional behaviour, in addition to the recent convictions, it’s understandable that confidence in the Met is so low, with girls and women being advised not to put their trust in lone Police officers if they feel threatened. Behaviour like this is not new but, like the increased awareness of sewage in inland waterways, it’s reached levels where so many of the public are now noticing and, even if not directly experiencing it, feeling uneasy at its prevalence…

Or do you have a better alternative?
