Fights, stabbings, at least one murder, sexual assaults, running battles in the street, yes indeed posters just another Notting Hill carnival in which thousands of black people celebrate black culture.
The policing bill was £6 million and the Met police have said the level of violence has become unacceptable. Some people are suggesting it should be banned, but here's a prediction: It will never be banned, regardless of the murders, stabbings, fights, running battles, disruption and general public disorder, I guarantee no one with the power to ban it would even suggest a ban because such a move would be criticised as 'racist' and nothing terrifies a politician or senior police officer more than being called a racist.

The problem is far more profound that that - the government have never had much issue stopping law abiding people making money
Banning it would akin to admitting that the multicultural project is now a total shit show.

There’s probably been more violence and fatalities and resulting legislation associated with football matches over the years — weren’t England’s teams banned by UEFA for five years following Heysel? *** There have been calls for Carnival to be moved away from its current location, but the problem would likely be, where the Notting Hill Carnival could/should be moved to. Rio’s (bigger and more known world-wide) Carnival was moved decades ago to a specially dedicated site and still maintains its popularity. I understand the cultural connections of the current venue with W11, but maybe the Olympic Park could/would be a better site…

People board up their homes and the council pay for pensioners to go the seaside for the weekend to get away from it. In my opinion no event should be allowed to cause that level of disruption especially when you consider that pubs & clubs are closed down for making excess noise. I'm not familiar with it but yes, perhaps the Olympic Park would be a suitable venue.

There is always the option of relocating the festival to the Caribbean and giving the whole area a three day rest from machete attacks

The policing bill was £6 million, I wonder how much the clean up cost?

The policing bill was £6 million, I wonder how much the clean up cost? Every year the taxpayers probably have to pay for the clean up, property owners pay to remove the graffiti, I suggest it should be held on the Goodwin Sands, nice and sandy at low tide locals used to play a cricket match on it once a year, not a problem until the tide turns

It was created as a way of bringing people together and breaking down racial barriers in the aftermath of race riots and assaults involving as many as 400 white thugs. At the time an understandable response to try and prevent racism.
London has changed, the carnival has had its day. Public safety is more important.

The policing bill was £6 million, I wonder how much the clean up cost? An Army of refuse workers have cleared an estimated 300 tonnes of rubbish from the streets of Notting Hill after its carnival. Kensington and Chelsea council said the huge haul of discarded food containers, drinks cans and laughing gas nitrous oxide canisters weighed the same as 25 double decker London buses. Some 200 cleaners and 30 bin lorries helped with the overnight clean up on Monday night and Tuesday morning following the street party over the bank holiday weekend. About 30 per cent of the rubbish is expected to be recycled, including the waste collected from more than 1,000 toilet facilities set up especially for the event. That would not be cheap

The policing bill was £6 million, I wonder how much the clean up cost? The biggest clean-up in the borough is still shrouded — and the resulting financial cost of its disastrous fire is now estimated at over £1 billion and worth 4000 times the cost-cutting saving by using cheaper alternative cladding during its refurbishment. I guess that and the 72 lives lost can be ignored as it happened in June 2017...
