I wonder how many shootings, stabbings, muggings and robberies will be reported this year? Notting Hill braces for the Carnival: Luxurious west London homes are boarded up ahead of world-famous street festival, with 'millions' set to descend this weekend.Luxurious west London properties have been boarded up ahead of Notting Hill Carnival, as millions are set to flock to the street festival this weekend. The festival, which began in 1966, will see streets across west London closed this bank holiday weekend to celebrate Caribbean culture, arts and heritage. But some homeowners in the area have been seen to board up their properties as the joyous event can often descend into violence and disruption. Last year, police made 209 arrests at the carnival for offences including criminal damage, common assault, drug possession and possession of an offensive weapon. Drill rapper TKorStretch, real name Takayo Nembhard, 21, was also stabbed to death, while two female cops were sexually assaulted. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12442227/London-properties-boarded-Notting-Hill-Carnival.html

I wonder how much black on black crime will be blamed on whiteness. I wonder if the police will issue descriptions of any assailants.

I won't go into detail because we are online, but the criminal opportunity here is massive

I guess it isn't a fun day out for all the family then? I suppose that depends what you mean by a fun day out. Clearly people who are boarding up their homes or forced to leave the area for the weekend aren't looking forward to it. Notting Hill council forced to defend Carnival scheme where elderly locals are shipped out during the weekend - link If this carnival was not billed as a "celebration of Caribbean culture" * do you think the council would allow this level of noise and disruption to the point where residents are forced to board up their homes? Or would the council ban such anti social behaviour? It's a poser innit... *What is Caribbean culture? Jerk chicken a 'Jamaican Woodbine' and a stabbing perhaps?

I'm just glad there's something like 50 miles between me and Notting Hill, right now would like it to be more. This will of course turn out to be in parts a delightful holiday celebration contaminated with idiot policing and unpoliced feral crime. The UK really should do better.

At a guess it would cover a huge range of subjects originating in the Caribbean. Made up of the different cultures who live there from the French to the English sides historically, not the US. Caribbean music, clothes, dancing, art, food, so on and so forth.

Yes indeed, quite possibly.

Good question , if I recall correctly a few years back the Jamaican Government declared a national emergency due the high unacceptable crime and violence rate, sounds a bit like parts of our major cities here in the UK but with sun not rain
