Poor old Saddo. He just can't catch a break. If it rained beer he would be the poor sod with a hole in his bucket

I half listened to something about this earlier on GB News, I was busy with something else but it sounded interesting. And indeed it is interesting. Sadiq Khan’s office tried to discredit and “silence” scientists who found that his ultra-low emissions zone (Ulez) policy had little impact on pollution, The Telegraph can disclose linkIt's been said before, Khan needs Ulez because he has already spent the £300 million a year it will bring in.

He's like a tin pot dictator, seems answerable to no one. We don't even need these mayors. It must be very frustrating for people who are made poorer by his taxation by the car door schemes.

Could it be that Sunak is quietly for Ulez?

the mayors office actually bribed the institution to produce in their name a report bigging up the benefits of the ulez . . BS They paid a fair price for an objective report, to represent that as some sort of bribe is just malevolent. Maybe you could actually try challenging the report using cogent arguments erg.ic.ac.uk/Research/home/transfer/HIAinLondonKingsReport14072015final.pdf

. . .Could it be that Sunak is quietly for Ulez? Well it was a Tory idea so very probable. London had to do something but FWIW my view is this latest expansion is probably too quick, too much 'stick' and without proper 'carrots'

. . .Could it be that Sunak is quietly for Ulez? Well it was a Tory idea so very probable. London had to do something but FWIW my view is this latest expansion is probably too quick, too much 'stick' and without proper 'carrots' Sadiq Khan made ‘false and dishonest’ statements to the London Assembly on six occasions, as newly released documents expose a secret campaign by the Mayor’s office to manipulate the results of the Ultra Low Emissions Zone. link Ulez has nothing, or at best very little, to do with air quality. Khan saw an opportunity to bash the motorist for an extra £300 million a year and since bashing the motorist is popular these days it's an opportunity he grabbed with both hands. Having said that, I did hear something about the government working on a plan to stop Ulez and if they did, with an election on the horizon, it would certainly be a much needed feather in Sunak's cap.

If anyone is holding out any hope on Sunak doing anything much, I wouldn't bother you will end up very disappointed and disillusioned.

Politically, it is much better that it looks like Sunak and the Tories put up a losing fight and the Westminster party blame it on each other, that way it gets turned into votes. You still get an expanded ULEZ get votes for saying it is Labour and khans fault, win some seats and still get ULEZ winner, winner chicken dinner.
