So the EU moves further away from being a democratic union of Sovereign States.

Things that the Europhiles said would never happen, or were dangerous fantasies.
It's good to see them proven wrong, again, but must suck for those who live in the EU.

I also note that Iggy has helpfully told us what the proposals were. Except he hasnt offered a link which officially describes them. This is the kind of nonsense that tries to pass for intelligent conversation in here. Unfortunately some believe it. The proposals came from an opportunity for EU citizens to meet discuss and suggest what they want to see in a future EU. Full and individual democracy. The EU is taking action on those. For the truth, read here. commission.europa.eu/strategy-and-policy/priorities-2019-2024/new-push-european-democracy/conference-future-europe_enFor those who want a copy of the final recommendations which went to the commission, read here and download the final report. It is easily read as it is clearly organised and subtitled. www.europarl.europa.eu/resources/library/media/20220509RES29121/20220509RES29121.pdfI have no idea why Politico and Iggy are fascinated with a long series of public consultations in a place they left. I have never heard of such wide ranging public meetings, surveys etc across the UK asking what the citizen wants AND THEN IT BEING ACTED UPON BY GOVERNMENT. I mean if the EU can do this over nearly half a billion people, surely it is possible in the UK. Unfortunately the people of the UK do not have the chance to directly affect government between elections and no chance at all to design manifestos or policy. Perhaps Politico could look up the word Democracy and, or, stop making up stories about a place he doesnt want to be a part of.

It might be helpful to you to download the ACTUAL final report and concentrate on the annexes. I guess you will never learn how to verify truth. You will always look and be ridiculous. And that can only be your own fault.

A rather ironic statement considering you spend every day on here bitching about a place that you no longer want to be part of.. And if you have a problem with the story I suggest you take it up with Mr Verhofstadt

I think the writing has been on the wall about vetoes for years. They were never a reality anyway. I remember when Cameron vetoed an EU bill about financial regulation and the EU just carried on with it anyway. Any country that tries to veto anything is browbeaten by threats of retaliation or bribed with grants to get acceptance. If the EU Commission wants to do something it has the powers to do it one way or another.
As for their ludicrous army it's just too ridiculous for words.

Our desperate ministers have signed us up to parts of PESCO. The technocrats in Brussels would love nothing more than commanding and controlling Europe's most powerful military, and our Europhile establishment couldn't get us in their quick enough.
