This is Denham, near to where I came from in fact. People in this area tend to get their shit together and would never think of going on strike. This is why the News has gone quiet. There are no problems and the work is doing well. They should get a clap.

Not sure how spending £150 Billion to save 20 minutes travelling from Birmingham to London could ever be described as 'going well'...

There is no gridlock - the numbers using the railways are falling. With working from home now the norm there simply is no need to expand rail routes into London.

The money should be spent on bringing the existing network into the 21st century.
The Transpennine route for example, where electrification ends at Manchester Victoria and doesn't start again until York. The bit in the middle is not planned for completion until between 2036 and 2041.

~Electrification??. Just a functioning reliable line would be nice. My line (serving 1m people) gets cut off (sometimes for weeks) whenever a storm coincides with high tide.......

Rather than spending money on faster rail they should have spent money on MORE rail. That way cheaper travel, that way, more people using trains, fewer car journeys and their environmental policies might make a bit of sense.
It's ridiculous that if you want to go to Edinburgh or Glasgow, from the South of England, the cheapest ways are to drive, or to fly and hire a car in Scotland.

The bit in the middle is not planned for completion until between 2036 and 2041. They are plumbing in the main arteries first. They are practising and learning how to do HS rail in the only way you can, which is on the job. The lads are doing us proud. Don't kill any signs of success like a rabid lefty. The more track you lay the faster you can lay it. We aught to do the whole country. This is the first bit. We get it running, cash in on it and plough profits into more track in an endless expansion into the 21st century. The less political interference the smoother the operation. The only use in government here is to make the ground clear of Greenpeace shits and the like so they can get on with the job, unlike the Hinckley Point lads who god badly stalled.

Can't go forwards, can't go back, got a meeting in half an hour... So let’s see, there you are in Doncaster, you get on the train at shit o clock in the morning and you save 20 minutes on the journey to King’s Cross Where you find your saved time frittered away by Saddo Who Khan’t who just dropped the speed limit from 30 to 20 for your taxi journey to the client.
