I think there needs to be an overall London Authority — but I'm not convinced the current GLA is able and efficient.
And I'm not enamoured with the way the London Councils and Boroughs operate. There's too much duplication and waste — more back office functions could be shared among authorities...

I cant see what it has achieved - if it replaced local councils then you might have an argument but at the moment all it does is add another layer of bureaucracy.
New Labours introduction of regional Mayors hasnt worked that that well in any area - perhaps Manchester is the best but everywhere else would anyone notice if they were scrapped?
