So is this thread now about the Dutch criminal sentencing guidelines? Stop digging Vinny. No, this thread is about the safety of people in the Netherlands under the policies of the member state government and the EU the organisation in charge of Europol.
Btw, Volkert Van Der Graaf had a lot in common with some of the nutters on here who think it's racist to be concerned about immigration. The same nutters weep for Jo Cox but not Pim Fortuyn, Theo Van Gogh or David Amess, and they say nothing against the harassment Nigel Farage has been subjected to.
Hypocrites.

Ok so we are back to the general safety of the Netherlands.
Do you understand that the murder rate in the Netherlands adjusted for population is below that in the UK?

The UK is not in the EU. It is not part of Europol. If the Netherlands is safer than it was 20 years ago, then the answer to the original question is that things are working, yes?

No-one says we are Vinny but still struggling to understand the point you are making.
There were two high profile political murders in Netherlands a couple of decades ago. There have been many murders there since but proportionally less than for example in the UK. Generally Netherlands is a pretty safe place. The Dutch murder rate has dropped significantly over the last thirty years. Ours has gone the same way but has tracked back up a little in the last few years.
Neither the Dutch rate nor the UK rate rate - in or out of the EU - has anything to do with the EU.
What point are you trying to make.

I was trying to have a discussion, not a battle. It was a simple enough question. And with Geert Wilders still living in fear of violence, a valid question.

Its hard to have a discussion without the point you are trying to make being clear Vinny.
Shall we just agree that the Netherlands shares many characteristics with the UK but does on the whole have a slightly lower murder rate and to a greater extent an overall lower crime rate and as such would be considered a little safer location. But of course as both countries have found, it is very hard to stop all murders including sadly politically motivated murders so safety cannot be guaranteed. The EU has little to no relevance towards murder or crime rates in either Netherlands or the UK.
Is there anything there you would disagree with or are agreed on all.
