The deal is the culmination of months of talks with the government over taxpayer subsidies to fend off reported competition for the investment from Spain. It marks a step in the right direction for UK ministers amid mounting challenges over the transition to electric powertrains, as the clock ticks down to the 2030 ban on the sale of new cars using petrol or diesel. According to Tata Group, this marks one of the largest-ever investments in the British automotive sector, and the gigafactory will deliver half of the battery production needed by 2030.

The reason is to do with EU rules of origin I think. If they import batteries from China they miss the mark on percentage of value of car made wherever they want tax concessions.

Great news, apparently this 'gigafactory' will create an incredible 40,000 jobs. Lets hope it doesn't go the same ay as Britishvolt.

It can't really do a Britishvolt because Brtiishvolt looked like it wasn't going to get any customers. With this it has a guaranteed market, only if the batteries are shit they could bring down the entire brand of car.

Personally I blame Brexit. It's really lazy blaming one thing for every ill of society. I get rather sick of the left blaming everything on Brexit in just the same way as the right blame everything on immigrants. You know who the problem really is though. It is us like, the Brits. When the Brits individually get around to improving their personal performance rather than blaming someone else we will see success.

Now I know why stand-up comics die on stage.

Now I know why stand-up comics die on stage. You are not making any sense.
This is the second post I've read today on here that is gibberish, and I've only read two so far! Try again. Brits can not live off stand up comedy alone.

Toyota and others are working on solid state batteries that do not have the problems normal lithium ion batteries can have. As a result, they do not have the fire risk and it looks like they'll offer up to 900 miles in range.

Fortunately the majority of the European public are far friendlier towards the Brits than his cult. There was a time during covid when the Brits banned Spanish holiday flights for health reasons which was perfectly reasonable and accepted as such, but even so you could taste the enthusiasm of the Spanish government to restore business. Dear lovely wonderful Brits, come here to Spain where we will love you to pieces and serve you our finest wines. Yep, they sure do love us, even with union jack shorts. That's capitalism at play.
