Long overdue about time they got back got back to basic Policing, now they need to recruit more Officers with stricter vetting and accepted on ability not ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation best person for the job, and pay them better

Burham is the Mayor of Manchester part of his job brings him into contact with Police which is just one part of his job responsibilities beside Public Transport etc, he does not run the Greater Manchester Police, he can make suggestions, pass on concerns from the public as the Civilian Police Commissioners do across the UK and monitor how the Polce are doing.
However, it is the Chief Constable that runs the Manchester Police from day to day the buck stops with him or her, not the Mayor
