In a YouGov poll from early 2017 ‘Leave’ voters were asked what they wanted brought back after Brexit. The top answer was hanging. To listen to Iggy, you could be forgiven for believing that the return of Britain's status as a manufacturing nation was at the top of their list. Who’s afraid of freedom of movement? The article asks. I say Brexiteers, particularly, Brexit fundamentalists.
While the article seemingly attempts to minimise immigration as a central factor in the referendum to the extent of claiming that "EU freedom of movement has consistently been very popular in the UK as a whole;" it doesn't seem to take into consideration that FOM was always going to be a deal breaker since the very idea of FOM was (still is) in conflict with the fundamentals of Brexit -- control, sovereignty, independence, rule-making-rule-taking issues, and other EU-hate ideologies that Brexiteers fully embrace.

Seeing freedom of movement as a negative is only another way of saying " we want a white western population with the accepted accents."
Like the constantly repeated government "humanitarian" expkanation that the channel boats must stop because we dont want people to die by drowning.
Subtext...we dont care if they are tortured or killed in their own homes.
What FOM and Stop the Boats are is an acceptable expression of xenophobia and racism heavily cloaked in moral righteousness.
BTW a small point. From Jan 2024 citizens of the UK will need an ETIAS visa to go to the EU or the USA.
If you are against FOM you will be delighted.

Might not be in soon but it will come,people need to be integrated in to our way of life and not the reverse, and the arrogance of calling them all gammons,try asking those of West Indian origin if they’re happy (I have) you might be surprised with their answer.
