"Two people have died after a hybrid car prototype that was being developed and tested with European Union funds blew up last week in the southern Italian city of Naples.
The Life-Save project..."
The irony.
But then the EU + Greenwashing was almost bound to = disaster.

The Commission are crap.
This untested hybrid tech with a dodgy battery killed two people. Competent engineers could have looked at this modification to a Fiat and thought, what the hell are you doing?

As you know Vinny I am into rough camping and survival, if you ever find yourself caught out in the wet or cold and you need a fire to keep warm or to cook. Just take the battery out of your phone and stab it with a knife and when litium meets oxygen it will give you a fire you wouldn't beleive and will ignite the greenst or wettest of kindling. Some phones like some Samsungs and Iphones the battery is inside the sealed casings so just stab the phone and away it will go..

Interesting, problem with that Jonksy is, depending on the terrain, lighting a fire however small will almost certainly give your position away, day or night. And if you're on the run why have you got a tracker in your pocket? If you have fodder eat it cold, lay up during the day and move at night, and never pass up an opportunity to fill your water bottle. Having just re-read your post, I don't know why I thought you were on the run! I momentarily wandered into a previous life. And some of that life was in your neck of the woods.

Started fires with a pp3 and wire wool before, never used a lithium ion battery on the basis of cost. But I can imagine.
I did survival camps. I was a Scout. Happy days.
