What are you talking about? These are facts: 'don’t elect the president by universal suffrage and MEPs can’t initiate legislation and the ECJ, the court, isn’t accountable to Parliament.' That's because the treaties don't permit it, Doc. How many times have the elected heads of the member states sought to change the treaties to allow those things? They have the power to do that in the Council. How many citizen petitions have there been to change those things? There is a citizens'' right to petition for change. So, if nobody wants those changes, why are you moaning? Well they are either facts or they are feelings - if you are agreeing they are facts then let gnome know because he seems a tad confused.

He just stated his feelings about a few facts about the EU -- how can be wrong? Or right, even. What are you talking about? These are facts: 'don’t elect the president by universal suffrage and MEPs can’t initiate legislation and the ECJ, the court, isn’t accountable to Parliament.' Yes. And the only thing he said was that those facts were the bones he had to pick with the EU. He was just saying that he had a few grievances against the EU. That's all. Once again: his feelings -- "my bons to pick with the EU", Facts "is you don’t elect the president by universal suffrage and MEPs can’t initiate legislation and the ECJ, the court, isn’t accountable to Parliament. (facts) "

The good thing is, with the pound no longer being overvalued, exports to the EU are up from £223.3 billion in 2015 to £340bn now. Well above inflation. So businesses are benefiting and the premise of this thread is bollocks. I'm no economist, but if the pound has fallen, doesn't that mean that imports are more expensive? The UK imports 30% of its food from the EU. Doesn't that mean that Brexit has contributed to food price inflation? What are your thoughts, Iggy? Thank you.

I was just saying that there are mechanisms to address all the supposed 'flaws' you pointed out. Your problem is that nobody but Brexiters perceive them as flaws. You can't point to a single instance of an EU member state having a problem with any of those things. They're a problem only in the minds of those who need to find flaws to disguise the real reasons they wanted to leave the EU.

Nobody, not a single member state, not the government in a member state or the opposition in Parliament in a member state, has ever, ever had a problem with those things. Never. The only people who have ever had a problem are little old darlings like you, who likely voted for the reasons your avatar suggest, and now feel the need to find some sort of intellectual justification. The UK has a functional government, but it has a highly dysfunctional democracy. The idea that you wanted to leave the EU for democratic reasons is simply a joke, when much, much more functionally democratic countries are more than content to remain in the EU.

You okay, Doc? You've been brooding in this section for a while now. Do you need me to call anyone?

If you've got something to say, Doc, just say it. We had this discussion on the old forum. You'll remember that Lewis had to get involved when a big row broke out over this topic in respect of myself, Gnome, and others. This site is said to be subject to the same rules as the old site, yet here you are, a mod, openly doing something that Lewis censored a poster for doing on the old site. You are openly breaking a standard which the mods set on the old site. It's not my place to tell you or the site owner what rules to apply - that is your business - just be honest enough to admit that what you are doing would have earned you a moderators' warning on the old site. I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I ever had a problem with Lewis and cannot remember any interaction with him. Any involvement you had with the moderators on the old site is down to you - please do not try and involve me.

Exports to the whole world went up after our vote to leave, prior to the referendum, our country had been in decline with falling exports and rising imports. A dangerous and unsustainable situation which we put a stop to.
Membership of the EU was dreadful. Thank fuck we're out.

What about the fact that the EU is selling more to the UK than it ever has? Looks like the German car manufacturers got what they wanted without lifting a finger to help your Brexiter buddies in high office.
